Maybe because the seeding is based upon a season of work, not 1 week.

As a rule, I think the CCS has no clue when it comes to playoffs in any sports.

I'm pretty sure the seeding is done by power points. LG has played a decent schedule, has the best record and won a share of the league title. Who would you put ahead of them, St Francis? Los Gatos beat them. Los Gatos has lost to three teams this year, all in league. They have a .500 or better record against each of those teams. In other words, no team has a winning record vs. LG. Are they the #1 team in the CCS? Maybe yes, maybe no, I guess we will find out in the next few weeks.

Who do I think should have got the #1 seed. St. Francis. Not only did they win the WCAL outright which is very difficult to do, they also won the Boras Baseball Classic beating one of the top teams in So Cal, JSerra Catholic. LG on the other hand has lost two of their last three games against a slightly better than average team. Just sayin'.

Winning the WCAL just took a little hit as 4 WCAL teams lose in the first round of the Open. Lone winner was St. Francis. Too be fair, the SCVAL tournament champ Palo Alto lost in the first round as well. LG and Wilcox advance.

Defense Rules,
The WCAL has been overrated the last few years. 1 and 5 in round one this year. No CCS title last year (Bell and VC lost to Leland on way to CCS Open Title). LG is the right #1 seed.
