Keoni Stallworth, Cosumnes Oaks HS (2016 Safety) was offered this week by the US Naval Academy to play football. That is the third academy offer for him. Army was the first to offer and and the Air Force Academy followed last month with their offer. The Navy offer is a bit interesting, because his brother Jaaron Stallworth, Cosumnes Oaks HS (2015 Point Guard) has committed to play basketball at the US Naval Academy.

What a great opportunity. Congrats to him!

The deployments for the Air Force are much nicer and out of harms way. Go FORCE!

Oh really????...Tell that to these folks:

1. ALO - Air Liason Officer or Specialist (officer or NCO/enlisted) attached to an Infantry/Spec Ops ground unit. Read a summary of their nice, cushie job here: https://www.clemson.edu/cbbs/departments/air-rotc/documents/13L_ALO_Trifold.pdf

2. PJ's (Para-rescue/Parajumpers). Watch this show, then come back and talk about their nicer/out of harms way lifestyle: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/inside-combat-rescue/

3. Pilots/Co-Pilots/Air Crew - There are more risks to operating/working-in fast moving metallic objects in the sky with a full tank of JP4 (gas) and a fuselage/wing stacked with bombs/bullets...than turning wrenches as a ground maintenance crew, piloting a drone, a nuke silo key turner, or being an air traffic controller.

Ted no branch of the military is safe. Air Force has the best duty stations. Army has the worst and NAVY you are on a ship. If he attend he will receive a first class education and acquire the leaderships skills to make an impact in life.

Army has the worst...

Damn...25th Infantry Division's home at Schofield Barracks ("Big Island" Hawaii) sucks???....and so does 4th ID's home at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, CO???? Wow...

Let's not forget Fort Lewis (now called JBLM) which houses 7th ID, 2nd ID's Stryker BCT's, 2nd Batt Rangers, & 1st SFG near Tacoma/Seattle...maybe not, because of all the rain???

On a side note, I think you should rephrase your comparisons to DUTY STATIONS or PCS Location (permanent change of stations) and NOT use the word DEPLOYMENTS. There's a difference between the two terms.

Ted you listed the good duty stations. Try Fort Bliss, Riley. Hood, Bragg, etc. More bad ones than good ones. Young 2nd LT's will be deployed for a year. Air Force is 6 months last I heard. Also really depends on your MOS too.

Are you serious??? You zoomies have your own share of sh!tholes from what I can see here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Air_Force_installations

Once again, you mix terms between deployments & PCS... Yes, deployments could be a year or 6 months from what you said. Actually back in the days, if you did a rotation in Korea with 2nd ID, it would have been 18 months unaccompanied. But, this does NOT apply to PCS/Duty Stations!!!! These are typically 2 to 3 years in length for ALL services. Yes, I've seen new PCS orders come within a year or so for relocating to a new unit because of some changing need, but that's extraordinary...not normal.

Once again, deployments are shorter...but, you're assigned to a duty station (normal case) for longer.

That said Ted................Carson, Hawaii and Lewis could be a bad duty stations (PCS) depending on which company you are attached to. You many never get the opportunity to enjoy the beach or snow! Typically you are assigned to a duty station for 3 years and depending on the company you are in and rotation at hand, it could be deployment for 1-2 years, with one year intervals at your duty station.

Great stuff, thanks.
