Scouting Report: Hughson 2025 QB Robert McDaniel

Robert McDaniel 6-foot-2, 195 pounds (Committed to Arizona)

Season Total (8 Games): 112-for-173 (64.7%), 1,898 yards, 26 touchdowns, 1 interception

McDaniel is the top rated senior quarterback in the region and has Hughson off to an 8-0 start. His best game came two weeks ago when he threw for 427 yards and five touchdowns in a 52-51 win over Sonora. The Arizona commit, who has previously committed to Cal, has good footwork in the pocket to rotate his body and set his feet for setting up good passing windows. He puts zip on the ball espeically throwing over the middle 15-20 down the field. McDaniel can also put touch on the ball to find receivers down the sideline.

Turlock FR quarterabck Scout Silva is a gamer

Silva had 236 total yards with three touchdown runs and two touchdown passses in Turlock's 33-14 win over Downey. On the year, he has thrown for nearly 1,700 yards and rushed for more than 400 yards.

I can't remember a successful large school having a freshman quarterback who has his hand in this much of the offense.

Scouting Report: Downey 2025 QB Carson Lamb

Carson Lamb 6-foot-0, 170 pounds

Season Total (8 Games): 147-for-214 (68.7%), 2,358 yards, 28 touchdowns, 4 interceptions

Game Report vs. Turlock (33-14) loss

In Downey's first loss of the season, Lamb had his share of good moments in going 17-for-31 for 191 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He rushed for a team high 34 yards. Lamb and Downey use a lot of quick throws and WR screen plays, but he also showed his skills down the field. Despite passes getting dropped, two of his best throws of the night came on a deep ball down the seam and a touch pass on a corner route. He also hit a 42 yard pass on a post route for a touchdown. As a runner, he can extend the play, though he may leave the pocket a little early, and pick up yards going to the outside.

Congratulations to Twelve Bridges
on their 51-34 victory over Placer,
a couple of plays was the difference in this game…a pick 6 by TB early in 1st qtr following a td on opening drive by TB on a defensive breakdown putting Placer dn 14-0 within 2 minutes. The pick 6 and a fake TB 4th and 2 at the TB 40 yd line that kept drive alive and culminated in another TB td was brutal for Placer, with TB Coach Chris Beane saying “he did not want to give Placer Coach Joey Montoya the ball back”.Both offenses looked like juggernauts as both Defenses had a tough time getting off the field without giving up a td or fg.There’s a very good chance these two teams will see each other again next month in the D4 playoffs….we’ll see how it all breaks down in the seeding.Again congratulations to TB on their victory!!

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Good win by the Lancers. I’d love to see that offense get with current times. In my years following Saint Francis Ball, there was never a shortage of good athletes there. Always tall strong armed quarterbacks who could chuck it with the best of them, great athletic speedy receivers yet they’re so focused on just pounding the ball. I love nothing more than physical football but I feel their run offense could develop more than archaic packages like I formation etc. if they could tweak that offensive a bit by still doing what they like in running the ball but introducing more passing packages, they could give teams like de la Salle, and even out of region teams more consistent run for their money.

I think this is NorCal in general

St Francis
Serra did for a long time
And De la salle still does

Outside of Folsom, St Mary and a few others. It's more of a run the ball control the clock football game here.

Southern California
Texas
Florida
Georgia

More passing the ball and spread offense.

I mean at least that what it seems Folsom got a 5 star QB but I think most of NorCal doesn't have a 2 star or a highly touted QB

Down south and then other states are heavy on the QB and speed

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Hats off to St. Francis and the best RB in Northern California Kingston Keanaaina.

He is the real deal!

SI had the script flipped on them tonight and it was tough to watch.

Our QB Soren Hummel was outplayed by St. Francis' QB Aaron Knapp. No Cardiac Cats tonight!

Good luck to St. Francis the rest of the season!
At half, Im sure you were beating your chest and you should. Defensively it just looked like SI had all the answers and Lancers just looked stunned that they could not run the ball. 2nd half blocking adjustments took care of that, plus SI's defense wore down. Dont have the overall statistics but it sure looked like SF time of possession for the game was 80%.

And that should do it as far as WCAL POY. Kingston definitely will take those honors. In a high stakes game like this, your team's best player needs to show up. Kingston in the 2nd half was phenomenal. Hummel was pretty bad. And thats just being nice. He was 7 for 17 for 14 yards. FOURTEEN passing yards!!!

Ive watched enough of his games and sure enough, he still cant throw over the top. He only throws timed 10 yard out routes to Polk or Shelton and really good teams know that and sit on those routes. Robinson of St. Francis did that and picked him off. Hummel needs to be better or whoever is calling the plays need to call better/different plays.

Looking forward to a rematch in CCS Open.

Week 9 Scores

SFL
Oak Ridge 71 Davis 0. Davis please for the love of god get out of this league. If you aren't the worse team in America I don't know who is.
Jesuit 34 Del Oro 14- No surprise here. Jesuit too big and physical up front was able to run pretty easily. Long year for DO.
Rocklin 35 Granite Bay 21- I thought this was the game of the week in SFL. It was 21 all and Rocklin pulled away. Rocklin is the clear #2 in the SFL.
Folsom 69 and Whitney 7. Yeah no bueno. Folsom is just really so much better than anybody else.

Pretty crappy SFL this year. I guess we've been spoiled recently.

Week 9 Scores

Newman looked really good last night. Jumped out to 28-0 Halftime lead and dominated the "Ranch." I thought the play calling was much better on the offensive side of the ball with letting Jentry use his speed to break a few runs which allowed "LT" to get comfortable throwing. Oregon State got a good one in Jesse Myers.

In other key games, Windsor looked really flat early against San Marin which did them in. I think maybe emotional letdown after that tough loss to newman. San Marin travels to Newman next week which will be a good game but I stil think the league is Newmans to lose at this point.

Week 9 Scores

St. Marys played a bit sloppy in this game with an INT on their very first series on offense, throwing directly to an Edison LB. The Rams were up 28-10 at halftime and fumbled twice in the 3rd quarter that resulted in two Viking’s TDs which allowed Edison back in the game tightening the score to 28-23. A couple of roughing the passer penalties were huge, the later one resulting in negating a Ram INT of former Ram QB, Devin Rasmussen, on 4th down. Edison came to play. St. Mary’s needs to clean up their play if they want to do well in the playoffs. This game vs Edison should not have been close at all. The Rams next two opponents in TCAL league play are Tracy (away) and Lincoln (at SM), which should be blowouts for the Rams, just as this game vs Edison should’ve been, but Tracy and Lincoln will be much easier opponents. Kudos to Edison who joined the TCAL just this season and will finish 2nd behind St. Mary’s. The Rams will finish 5-0 in league play and will face much tougher competition in the playoffs.

Week 9 Scores

Turlock takes down Downey33-14, in probably the worst officiating I’ve ever watched in all my years. IMO, the refs won this game with their one-sided calling of the game. Totally disgusting!
Turlock shut down the Downey offense, and moved at will for the first three drives in the first half. Downey had a short field TD when they recovered a fumble inside the Turlock 10 and then they had a long pass for the second TD. That was the extent of their scoring, all in the first half. There were several unsportsmanlike penalties, including at least one on Turlock, maybe more. One of their (Turlock) initial drives was aided by a 30-yard total penalty, a roughing the passer and unsportsmanlike tacked on. I would not say the refs decided this game as Turlock repeatedly stopped Downey. Turlock also had some lost fumbles that stifled drives, and had an interception (of Downey) that also resulted in an unsportsmanlike penalty for excessive celebrating and taunting. (It should be noted that I am a Turlock fan). The Downey QB had pressure on him all night and was able to scramble for some gains, and it should also be noted that he had some good passes dropped. But the fact of the matter is (any bias on my side acknowledged) that Downey had not played anyone this season, even with a strengthened non-conference schedule, on the level of Turlock and could not run up the passing yards and scores. I can see from a Downey fan's perspective that the ref's calls were factors but that wasn't why they lost.
