If Palma has to rely on any passing game, they will lose and it won't be close. Their woes in the Passing game goes beyong the soph QB.SHC should be favored and it will take great game for Palma youth to win it. Their QB has actually progressed a lot and the return most of their team next season. JV and select frosh will add a lot next season. They will be in up swing next couple years.
SHC is very young...they only have 4-5 seniors. There weakness is the D-line defense so yes they would have to stack the box so to speak. The DBs are above average. If SHC can not stop the run like all season, Palma will win. SHC needs to keep the ball away from the PALMA offense too so the SHC offense needs to use up the clock with consistent long drives.Of course, I think SF is better than SI -more physical. However SI defense is going to be tough on Salinas. SI o-line will be tough for Salinas defense. They are big and physical and Salinas will have to stack the box. I think it could be a good game.

I think Sargent is grittier and tougher than Mitchell even tho Mitchell might have a better arm. Sargent has to improvise and use his legs more. Remember, Mitchell plays with a more complete team. It would be interesting to see Mitchell on the SHC squad playing a few snaps and then it would be a fair comparison..lol. Safe to say, Sargent would do fine with Riordan;s team.Sargent is definitely a leader and has excellent command of the offense. If Im knit-picking here, his arm strength on down field throws (30+ yards) is not elite yet. Riordan's Mitchell has that elite arm talent. If you watch his throws, he flicks it with ease. Sargent has a small windup hitch when he needs to throw deep.
Its not fair to say what he would look like at other schools. Each school is comprised differently. Some have massive offensive lines (Riordan, SI, St. Francis). Only Riordan has the WR talent and depth that is even if not better than SH. Sargent put together a fantastic offensive season with a smaller offensive line and only 1 senior with at the skilled positions. Everyone is basically back next year with hopefully a few more transfers on the OL/DL. Offensively next season they should again put up alot of points but the emphasis should be get more physical kids on that front 7 that wants to stop the run. Thats been their achilles heel the past 2 seasons. Teams ran all over them.

EBAL is definitely not “down” besides monte vistaNot very many schools moved up. Moving down is the joke. The ripple effect is that only 3 actual D7 schools made the playoffs. St Vincent, St Bernard’s, and Ferndale. There was no place for D7 schools to move down to so they didn’t make it at all. Willits was 8-2 and missed NCS.
Do the math. Look at where the NCS commissioner had his teaching/coaching/AD career. Look who benefits the most. The BVAL gets to avoid the DLS machine (minus Pitt) and move down to D2-D4 and the 1 league in the section who actually was created with competitive equity and all the teams played tough non league games, Redwood Empire Adobe, moved up.
Now I will admit CAL made some good points. CN and MC are solidly top 5 in NCS this year and their schedules reflect that. If CN didn’t get lemon booty at MC they could arguably be ranked 2. There just aren’t as many power larger publics in NCS right now. BVAL is way way down and EBAL is slightly down as well. The SJS is just much deeper, with the population and family centric growth out there it makes sense.
I know the NCS has the “DLS problem” and there is no easy solution. Like I’ve said before there really isn’t a school who can elevate themselves on a yearly basis to compete with them. Even Pitt is a Title I-low income school, they’ll get kids transferring in but many families avoid that environment. There’s no Folsom in the NCS. There’s no WCAL either. They’ve been alone on the mountain for 35 years and even before that for much of the 80s as well.
On a side note the Redwood leagues below the Adobe need some easy adjustments, mainly the 2 middle leagues have outliers.
Number of schools to make playoffs by division
D1: 10
D2: 11
D3: 10
D4: 9

Riordan's Mitchell has that elite arm talent. If you watch his throws, he flicks it with ease. Sargent has a small windup hitch when he needs to throw deep.Ray John Spears probably a better athlete, (speed) and had better seniors when he played QB. Sargent is a true leader and a field general. The way he runs the offense and gets this offense going is inspiring imo. Its just interesting because some of the better teams in the WCAL don't have a better QB this year. But as a fan of SHC football he is definitely one of the best QBs I have seen over the years at the school. Having said that, I cant think of another school currently with his talent other than Riordan currently in the WCAL, he would fit well wiith this year. True, he could make some teams better but which one would be a good debate?
Don't sleep on Escalon! I have watched them up close and personal! They are not last year team. 3 year starting QB. But they are still Escalon!I can understand the excitement with Twelve Bridges, and yes they are good, they are well coached, they have had a lot of success these first couple years, and even though they are undefeated at the moment they can certainly lose. They came away with a 51-34 victory vs Placer, congrats to them but the way the CIF did the seedings for the D4 playoffs it appears Twelve Bridges and Placer could face each other again after this 2nd rd.It appeared both teams didn’t have a problem scoring as both teams did pretty well it was the Defenses inability to get off the field,Placer and a couple penalties moving them back and ultimately having to go on 4th and long and unable to pick up the 1st down by a few yds and turning it over to TB as well as a damaging pick 6 by Placer putting them dn 14-0 to start the game as well as not stopping TB fake punt late in game on a 4th and
2….TB did what they had to do and by keeping all kickoffs short and away from Placer speedy kick
returners, the fake punt on 4th and 2 was huge for TB as even their coach stated later in paper “he didn’t want to give the ball back to Placer Coach Montoya”.TB is very deserving of the D4 #1 seed but there are a couple teams maybe 3 than can upend them in these playoffs…Placer,(should all go well this Fri vs a good Escalon team) happens to be one of those teams. It’s playoff time and anything could happen,I know for a fact Placer would like to lock horns with TB again,it would make for a very good game, imho!
Hmm, I thought that was the topic of this thread - the Bells... I'm not sure what other topic @THEOC89 should be dialoging about in this thread. But you seem to be focused on the Bells success or lack of it & the need to run consistent dialog about it. The WCAL has some history and it goes beyond your ten year window of claimed enlightened mind window. Heck another program has left and rejoined the WCAL in football in just a Ten Year window prior to the one you mentioned, so that is not important? I don’t want to tell you that your extremely idiotic point to only focus in FB vs other Olympic sports. Truly screams the later descriptive used..

True, he could make some teams better but which one would be a good debate?Sargent statistically has had a magical season for SH. However Ray-John Spears who led the state title team was a better all-around QB in my opinion. But not by that much. I did not expect Sargent to do much running in the RPO this season, but surprisingly he has put up some good running numbers to go along with his passing.
He broke the school passing yards record despite missing Flannigan and Jenkins for a few games. Zion Secrese, Tion Williams and Jared Camara all have stepped up. All hopefully are back next year except Flannigan (graduation).
Irish just need to add more OL/DL depth. Appears Coach Evans can get skilled guys to come and play for him. He just needs more bruisers to come as well.
signed by the lakers. so apparently they know a little somethingIndeed. Its a business move at the end of the day. Pippen's kid is the one I think has a nice little game and Scotty did him zero favors. Probably hurt him more.
No...He will be a senior next year, he will stay..lol.He should transfer to SI where we run a pro style offense and will be needing a QB next year.
Perfect fit! 🤔
Indeed. Its a business move at the end of the day. Pippen's kid is the one I think has a nice little game and Scotty did him zero favors. Probably hurt him more. That’s just it. He’s only there to possibly help fill a roster spot, rather than improve and help the team win games.
I think you have to consider Salinas and Palma as underdogs, but if I was Coach Zenk, I would be pretty happy about this matchup. Of all of the upper seeds possible, I'm with @RLS13, St. Iggy may be the most vulnerable. I think St. Francis would have been a bigger mountain to climb. Is Monterey's QB Preston White playing? He had separated shoulder and hasn't been back for a few weeks?
I see Salinas/St Ig is streamed on NFHS Network. Palma / SHC is not streamed on the network. I may end up going to one of them. I son't think they will be blow outs but I have Salinas and Palma as underdogs.
Most 12 or 13 roster spot guys never play. That’s just it. He’s only there to possibly help fill a roster spot, rather than improve and help the team win games.
