Bellarmine - Vanden Game called with 1:13 remaining

So watched a good portion of game last night with Bells leading heading to 4th quarter 35-3 over Vanden. A safety and 2 TD's led to 18 unanswered points by Vanden to make the score 35-21.
According to The Mercury News:
"As the game headed toward its conclusion frustration boiled over on the Vanden side and the head official called a halt, signaling the game was over with 1:13 left on the clock." And game ended 35-21.

Anyone know what happened to prematurely call an end to the game?

Sheldon Proving Grounds, Day 2

I’m here and getting ready for the first game in a few miuntes, he Campolindo Cougars vs. the LaCosta Canyon Mavericks.

After this one, the host Sheldon Huskies take on the Taft Wildcats, then the Modesto Christian Crusaders take on the powerhouse Centennial Huskies of Corona, CA.

Back to the game at hand…. Campo is 3-0 after beating Taft last night, and La Costa is now 3-2 after nipping Sheldon last night…

Both teams are system-oriented “run your stuff” type teams…. I think Campo is better at it.

Odds Are Long Again, But Serra Relishing Second Shot At A State Title

By Mitch Stephens

Nov. 27, 2022 Updated: Nov. 27, 2022 7:38 p.m.

Coach Patrick Walsh’s Serra will play for the Open Division title Dec. 10.

There’s no holding back any longer, Serra football coach Patrick Walsh said Sunday.
Not after his team earned its eighth Central Coast Section title by beating Mitty 41-14 on Friday to extend its winning streak to 13.
Not heading into a test against national power St. John Bosco-Bellflower in the Dec. 10 state Open Division championship game at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo (Orange County).

Serra was one of 13 Metro teams chosen Sunday by the CIF to advance. As the top-rated team in Northern California for the second straight year, the Padres get to skip a NorCal game and go straight to the state title matchup.

They have two weeks to prepare for a squad with a staggering 43 players who have either Division I scholarship offers or a national 3-star rating or higher.

Even though Serra’s list in that category pales — around a dozen including just two seniors — the Padres’ domination this season puts it among the best all-time CCS squads. With preseason road wins over Folsom and De La Salle-Concord and no close calls in the WCAL (average margin of victory: 28 points), the resume is full.

“To me this is the gold standard — a team for the ages,” Walsh said Sunday. “I’ve held back saying it earlier because I worried about their egos. But going into a game like this you have to believe in every fiber of your being that you can play with these guys. Plus this team really deserves all the love and praise it’s been getting.”

The Padres faced a similar challenge last season, losing in the state final to national champion Mater Dei-Santa Ana, 44-7. Bosco broke Mater Dei’s 29-game win streak Friday at the Rose Bowl 24-22 for the Southern Section Division I title.

Sheldon “Proving Grounds” Doubleheader

Starting in 15 minutes, we have the Campolindo Cougars facing Taft from somewhere down in SoCal

Cougs are 1-0, had a rough shooting day but held Grant to 28 while winning 52-28.

They’ll need to shoot better here…. Taft is 0-1, but the loss was by just 3 to a very good 5-1 team. The way I understand it, Taft has a 6’8” stud named Keyon Kensie jr. who put up 43 in that losing effort.

For those who are unable to make it down to Fresno for the Heart of California Basketball Classic at Save Mart Center we wanted to share the information on watching the final four games of the day on NCSTV!
*Unfortunately Save Mart Center has required that we hire union camera operators and therefore we are only able to budget the final four games of the day instead of all nine games as we originally intended.
