SRV at Carondelet Part 3

I just saw that this NCS Open Championship is being held on the home court of Carondelet on Friday at 7pm. I thought these games are held at a Neutral site as it looks like the CCS and the SJS Championships are being held at Neutral Sites. Is this just the NCS appeasing Carondelet? Doesn't seem to align to history or the other sections.

Either way, it should be a good game and the game that many hoped would come to play.

A coastal deficit

For the first time in memory (admittedly fuzzy), the entire Santa Cruz/Monterey/Salinas area does not have a single girls' team playing for a CCS championship this week. It's a complete shutout. The PAL South has four teams playing for crowns by itself, two in Division II and two more in Division III. All four (Aragon, Hillsdale, Mills and Capuchino) are part of the San Mateo Union High School District. Another team, Burlingame, may receive an at-large NorCal bid Sunday as well, giving the league and district a quintet in that post-season tourney.

NBL/North Bay

Little Update.
Newman vs Santa Rosa for Classic Champ.
Newman got stud Gavin Vogesen cleared and at 6”3-6”4 he gives them another great scoring option. Look for newman to run off 8-10 wins in a row.

Montgomery lost a close one 46-41 to a solid Redwood team that should compete for MCAL along with Marin Catholic, Archie Williams, Branson.

My sleeper team is Justin Siena in d4. 10-3 with 2 of those losses to palma and capital Christian in DLS tourney. They have great size and are lengthy.

should be fun as we start league play coming up.

Pinewood 61 SI 42 (Elle Ladine is Still Very Good)

That was the best I've seen from PW this year. It was an 8 point game at the half. Pinewood started Q3 with three straight three pointers, and that was the game.
SI is a strong team with players at every spot, including two solid bigs, but it had no answer for Elle Ladine who logged 30 points (many of the spectacular variety), more than 20 boards, and a bushel of assists. Plus she played lockdown defense on SI's Sabrina Ma. Hard to imagine there's a better player in Nor Cal.

Cougars and Broncos, Oh My!!!

It’s NCS semifinal time!

The 25-1 Campolindo Cougars face the 20-6 Northgate Broncos in their third meeting of the season.

As y’all know, it’s usually darned tough to beat a good team three times in a row, but that’s what the Cougars needs to do.

As I look down on the floor to watch the Cougs warming up, I notice that Logan Robeson is on the floor, dressed down, and NO BOOT. No idea whther he’ll play or how much if he does, but it’s sure nice to see him back out there!

Early Results from the NCS

Redwood beat Liberty 4-1: JR Rory Minty went 5.1 innings and gave up five hits and an unearned run. He struck out three. At the plate, SR Cole McGowen went 2-for-3 with a triple and a RBI.

Pittsburg beat Monte Vista 8-0: SO Cole Leschak threw a two hit shutout with six strikeouts for the Pirates. Pittsburg got hits from eight different players including two RBI apiece from Leschak and SR Khamani Blakney.

On Friday, California beat Liberty 4-3. SR Raoul Fabian went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. SR Dom Tuyor went 3-for-3 with two RBI. SR Nick Bronzini tossed five no-hit innings with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Bishop O’Dowd travels to CVC

CVC is one of the loudest gyms around…. Student sixth man group is NUTSO, at least if anything near full capacity is allowed tonight…

Bishop O’Dowd hasn’t lost since I saw them get run down from behind by University in the MLK Showcase at DLS.

Total record is 17-5, a few games short of max, I suppose due to Covid cancellations or whatever….

CVC is 19-9, having played a tough nonleague sked and then going 1-5 vs. the top powers in the DFAL. Might be the best 9-or-more-losses team in Norcal.

CVC is ranked #7 in NCS by Maxpreps and O’Dowd is at #9.

I’ve picked CVC to win this, but it could really go either way.

Valley Christian beats St. Ignatius 58-49 in the regular season finale

The Warriors have ended the regular season with four straight wins.

It will be interesting how the CCS seeds the Open after Mitty

Pinewood (one loss to SI, beat St. Francis, O'Dowd, Moreau, SRV)
Valley Christian (split with SI and St. Francis, beat Vanden, Newman, lost to Moreau, Salesian)
St. Ignatius (split with VC, swept St. Francis, lost to Carondelet x2, St. Mary's, Antelope)
