THIS IS FOR ALL THE OLD TIME NORCAL PREP HOOPSTERS

Twas the night before tournament and all thru the gym, Not a creature was stirring except Amber Lyn.
The nets were hung by her sister Ginger, Who could shoot out the lights with the flick of her finger.

The JV’s were snuggled all in their beds, Thinking “Varsity” with good play, and a fresh pair of Keds.
When out in the hallway there came such a clatter, the “Drolls” stopped spinning balls, to see what’s the matter.
Sparten23 flew to the window in just two beats, somebody had called out “ De La Salle cheat’s!!

Then , what to my wondering eyes did appear? But eight little players who played with no fear. They ran with the ball, so lively and quick, I wondered for a moment if it was Division 4 St. Nick!

More rapid than Freemont, his coursers they came, the whistle blew and he called them by name. “Now Sweetpea! Now Matsfan! Big Rod52! On JDub! On Lorenzo! On Oldschool!
To the top of the rim! To the top of the wall! Now rebound! Now outlet! Now fast break Y’all.

And then In a twinkling, a shout from the roof, “ THE BEST TEAM IS LODi !! And I’ve got the proof!
I turned my head, and what did occur, In came this “ Player” all dressed in red fur.
He picked up the ball with his Rosey red glow, and proceeded to drain ten in a row.

With a smiling face and a little round belly, he let out a laugh, like a bow full of jelly. He said: “ Wonce a yeer I’m glad to meatcha, wears dis guy called the Ingrinch Teecher?

Up he sprang, when the Ref blew the whistle, and away they went, thru thick and Thistle. Up the chimney, the same way they came, off his team went, to play a new game.

I heard him exclaim, from way down the block, and climbing the stoops.
Merry Christmas to all and ---
“Here’s wishing you great hoops!”

2015 National Title IX DC Classic Brackets (12/28 - 12/30)

Brackets here ==> http://nebula.wsimg.com/1376eff7663...F84E51C74A08E4BEC&disposition=0&alloworigin=1

Interestingly, Riverdale Baptist is not in the same bracket as SMS, St. Francis (GA), Konawaena (HI) - the Patsy T. Mink Bracket. I wonder if last minute changes will be made, especially considering the performance of Riverdale Baptist at the Nike TOC's vs SMS. Riverdale Baptist, instead is in the 4-team Wahine MS Bracket with Potter House (FL).

Oscar Frayer looking at 4 schools

Per his twitter just now:

"I've narrowed down my list 4 schools *NO ORDER*:
Oregon State
Grand Canyon
Nevada
Saint Mary's"

With Jordan Ford already in the fold, I gotta say I'm hoping he chooses SMC... would be a lot more interested in this local team if they start getting local players... although a Norcal trio of Oscar, Cam Oliver and Kenny Wooten would make for a pretty insane midnight madness dunk contest at Nevada lol...

Somewhat off-topic, but UCSD with Chris Hansen gets a wild win

The UCSD Tritons beat Cal State San Marcos 69-65 to go to 5-0 in league despite having only four players left
at the end of the game.

They had one guy out due to injury and another was injured during the game... and FOUR guys fouled out!

The Tritons had to play the last two defensive sequences 4-on-5. One of the four guys left was Hansen, who snagged two big defensive boards in those two sequences.

Overall, he scored 13 points and snared 7 boards in 24 minutes.

NorCal Open Division

As we gaze at the unfolding NorCal girls' hoops landscape, it's becoming clear (again) that the system for providing an Open Division team to face the SoCal entrant in the CIF state title tilt, is flawed. The NorCal basketball setup should mirror what football does. There, the NorCal commissioners simply decreed that De La Salle would be the NorCal Open rep. By avoiding a NorCal Open playoff, a strong team like Folsom or Bellarmine could remain viable in a lower division. NorCal hoops authorities should consider the same scenario. Name SMS (or some other clear-cut Number One) as the Open rep without having Open playoffs, freeing up teams like Miramonte, Pinewood and Mitty to compete in their proper enrollment divisions. Last year, SI, Pinewood and SHC were forced into the Open where SMS rolled the field, denying those three other schools a chance to represent (and strengthen) the North in their proper enrollment divisions. SoCal has more schools, bigger enrollments and more options. So, for them, competition in the Open Division makes some sense. Not so much in the North where tossing strong teams into the Open ends up undermining and seriously diluting the competition.
