Baseball Scoreboard: Palo Alto's no-hitter, Serra-Valley Christian and Granada-San Ramon Valley set for finals

Palo Alto beat Wilcox 3-0

Junior Henry Harding threw a no-hitter with two walks as the Vikings won the opening game over Wilcox. He also struck out eight batters.

Senior Charlie Bates had a home run and two RBI in support of the pitching gem.

Palo Alto has won five in a row and nine of its past 10 games to move into a three way tie for first place with Los Gatos and Los Altos.

Serra beat Mitty 13-10

Mitty led 8-6 after two innings, but Serra eventually pulled out the slugfest to reach the WCAL Playoff finals. Senior Josiah Rodriguez had a home run and six RBI and senior Joey Damelio added three hits and four runs scored. Junior Davis Minton worked around eight hits in 4.1 innings to give up just one run to earn the win.

Valley Christian beat St. Ignatius 13-2

Senior Tatum Marsh had two home runs and six RBI and sophomore Nathan Choi and junior Brock Ketelsen each added homers to set up a third meeting between the Warriors and Serra.

Fresh off his perfect game against St. Ignatius, junior Kole Laubach gave up two runs over six innings to earn the win.

San Ramon Valley beat De La Salle 8-2

The Wolves never trailed and added four runs in the top of the seventh to knock off the Spartans and advance to the EBAL Championship Game. Junior Marco Jones had a home run and two RBI and senior Charles Reiland tossed 4.2 innings of one run ball for the win.

De La Salle junior Alec Blair had two doubles and senior Sean Stafford had a double and a triple in the loss.

Granada beat Monte Vista 9-0

Three Granada pitchers, led by senior Parker Warner, combined on a nine hit shutout. Warner, senior Quinn Boyd and junior Mikey Boyd each had two RBI. Monte Vista senior Dylan Hillman went 2-for-3.

Granada won the previous two meetings against San Ramon Valley.

Cardinal Newman beat Windsor 2-0

Junior Jack Pezzolo gave up two hits and no runs over six innings with eight strikeouts to send the Cardinals to the NBL-Oak Finals. Senior Jacob Moreda and senior Sam Valenti scored the runs for Cardinal Newman.

Windsor senior Matthew Worlow got the start and went four shutout innings as the Jaguars lost to Cardinal Newman for the third time in nine days.

Newark Memorial JV/Frosh December "Tip-Off" Tournament - December 2-4, 2024

Newark Memorial is looking for two (2) more JV Girls Basketball Teams for a new four (4) team round-robin tournament on December 2-4, 2024 (Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday) at Newark Memorial.

The entry fee is $425, with a three (3) game guarantee. The game times will be 6:00 and 7:30 pm each evening.
Open until filled.

Baseball Scoreboard: Top Seeds win in Sac-Joaquin Section and Valley Christian and Serra move on in WCAL Playoffs

Serra beat Bellarine 8-0

Serra advanced to the WCAL semifinals with a shutout win over the Bells. Senior Braden Agosta tossed five shutout innings with six strikeouts and sophomore Riley Lim pitched the final two innings. At the plate, senior Jake Downing had a home run and three RBI with seniors Ian Armstrong and Joey Damelio each adding a double for Serra, which plays Mitty on Wednesday.

Bellarmine got a double from senior Nolan Randol in the loss.

Serra scored in five of six innings on Tuesday.

St. Ignatius beat St. Francis 5-4

Despite giving up three runs in the bottom of the seventh, St. Ignatius held on to beat the Lancers and will now take on league co-champion Valley Christian, which beat Riordan 2-1.

St. Ignatius senior Evann Smith had a double and three RBI and sophomore Archer Horn added a pair of hits. Senior Will Siwinski tossed 4.1 shutout innings with five strikeouts. St. Francis countered with sophomore Ian McMahon, who gave up one run over the first four innings. Lancers’ senior Brent Valentine went 2-for-2 with a triple.

College Park beat Clayton Valley Charter 6-1

College Park scored six runs in the first inning and got hits from seven different players for their seventh win in eight games. Senior Hunter Pelayo led the way with a 2-for-3 outing and two RBI. Senior Nathan Leffel gave up an unearned run over 5.1 innings of work with six strikeouts.

These two teams wrap up the regular season on Thursday.

St. Mary’s Stockton beat Franklin Stockton 12-2

Seniors Michael Quedens and Tyson Reis each had home runs and the Rams posted 18 hits in four innings to open the SJS Division I playoffs. Sophomore Nico Bravo got the start and posted two shutout innings with three strikeouts.

Next up is No. 8 seed Inderkum.

Whitney beat Cordova 11-0

The top seed in SJS Division II got a five inning, three hitter from juniors Braeden Jenest and Corden Pettey to set up a quarterfinal contest with Laguna Creek.

Senior Luke Oyler went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Senior Jax Gimenez, freshman Bryce Farris and senior Trajan Rogowski each had two runs scored.

Central Catholic beat Weston Ranch 7-0

The Raiders advanced in the SJS Division III playoffs as TP Wentworth struck out 13 batters and the offense plated five runs in the fifth inning.They will host league foe Manteca in the quarterfinals.

The 40th Lake Tahoe Girls Basketball Jamboree will occur at the Lake Tahoe Community College on June 21-23, 2024.
We still need teams to fill out our 16-team format.
Each team will have the chance to showcase their skills and compete in at least five games: one game on Friday afternoon and two games each on Saturday and Sunday.

Novato High School Boy's Varsity Tourney has one spot open. Tournament dates are Thursday, December 5 - Saturday, December 5, 2024. Three day tourney with one game per day in a traditional eight team bracket. Look back at the 2014 MLB Draft

Cool to look back on it 10 years later and this one has a few NorCal connections.

In the redraft, Logan Webb (Rocklin), Rhys Hoskins (Jesuit/Sacramento State) and JD Davis (Elk Grove/Cal State Fullerton) all made the first round in the redraft.

Derek Hill (Elk Grove) was an actual first rounder in this draft.

Feels crazy that Hill was drafted 10 years ago!

New Coach St Mary's College High School

Marshall Collins is taking over at St. Mary's High School. This will shake up some thangs in the next
coming years. Marshall has coached at the Juco level for many years and is a highly successful
coach. You may also know him from coaching the Soldiers top team and leading them to
the 2017 Nike Peach Jam Championship. Can't wait to watch this.....

46th Annual SF City High School Summer League

Attention high school coaches, the 46th Annual SF City Summer High School League is taking sign-ups right now. It's a 6 game league run on Monday and Tuesday nights at CCSF's Wellness Center in the month of June. We have a Varsity and JV division with a few slots still available in each division. Games will be played at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30. Teams traveling from farther distances can play 2 games in a night. Send an email to sfcampsandleagues@gmail.com for more information.
