Jase Butler Update

Former Illinois commit Jase Butler is back on the market after being released from his NIL with the Illini on April 8, but he may not stay uncommitted for long. The California-based guard is set to visit Washington on Wednesday and could become the next Huskies commitment should all go well on the trip.

Cal is the other school most heavily involved with Butler. And while the Golden Bears remain a real threat, Washington has established itself as the team to beat in recent days. The quicker Butler makes a decision, the better it looks for the Huskies as head coach Danny Sprinkle will try to seal the deal with the four-star guard this week.

Ygnacio Valley Cancels NCS Game @ Arcata

I just heard this and not sure if it's true. Are there any penalties for teams that choose NOT to participate because of travel? I would assume that when submitting forms for playoffs, they would know what happens if they participate in the playoffs and the possibility of travel. I remember this happened in Norcals a few years ago on the boys side. A team didn't want to travel to a Northern Section team so cancelled. I'm not sure what the consequences were or are if this happens. Anyone know?

Tara's swan song?

Was tonight's tourney loss the Stanford finale for her? She is nearly 71. She has been the boss on The Farm since 1985. She has multiple NCAA titles. She is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division I history. What's left to prove? The ACC will be a travel challenge for her. Recruiting elite teens without strong academic credentials is not in the cards. It just feels like it's time.

El Cerrito 24-25 Preseason Football Schedule

El Cerrito lost a lot of Senior leadership but have a lot of underclassmen who played varsity returning and some transfers coming in. Since they play in a weak league looks like they scheduled a solid non league schedule.

8/30 Amador Valley
9/6 @ Monterey Trail
9/13 @Oakland Tech
9/20 Campolindo
9/27 De La Salle

They could possibly be 1-4 headed into league

O.J. Simpson passes

He died today at age 76. Before he starred as a running back at USC and in the NFL, he was a standout at Galileo HS in San Francisco and at CCSF in the mid-1960s. He was a prime example of the overall strength of the AAA back in the day _ prior to the departure of SI and SH and the onset of massive demographic changes in SF. A different time. A different era.
