I thought this was noteworthy ... Lincoln High (Stockton) recently had two separate players reach the 1000-varsity-points career scoring mark within a few days of each other.

Quentin Thompson, a McDonald's all-American nominee, reached the mark on Saturday. He's a 4-year varsity player who played his first two years at Tokay and then transferred to Lincoln. Thompson is a senior who is committed to play at Menlo College next year. Of interest is that Thompson is a very young senior, as he started off at Tokay as a 13-year-old varsity player his freshman year.

Anthony Moore reached the mark three days earlier on Wednesday. Moore is a junior who already has an offer from UOP (among other offers). He has been playing at a high level for Lincoln ever since he was a freshman on varsity.

Very talented Lincoln squad this year. One of the best teams in the Stockton area for sure. (Just can't seem to beat Modesto Christian yet ... a third game with MC perhaps coming in the playoffs?)

First of all didn’t there you to be a rule, or at least an unwritten one, that teams in the same league didn’t meet in the first round? Maybe that went away when they split into a zillion divisions…

Anyway, the Cougs face College Park for the third time, having beaten them in the previous two meeting 57-50 and 51-46 (I think).

Right now, it’s halftime of the girls game, div 3 8 and 9 seeds…. Campo is leading 27-14.

Sheldon leads Grant 17-13 end Q1.

Sheldon got off to a good start but Grant was able to settle in.

Pretty good first round matchup with both teams looking to get out in transition

For tonight, I selected Petaluma at Benicia.

Last year was a down year for the section, with the notable exception of NorCal Champ AMHS. I'd expect considerable improvement this year, though I haven't seen anybody play and don't know who might be hurt/ineligible.

Big win for Priory to end up as WBAL co-champions with Pinewood.

Ugreat Daniels had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Adelaide Chan and Vienn Sheng also scored in double figures.

I think with the fact guys can’t be international citizens and make nil money, I wonder if really good Japanese players might come to the states when they are juniors or seniors.

Would make sense, because then I believe they’d also be eligible for the MLB Draft

Wonder if we can expect more International players coming through the CA Baseball pipeline in the near future!

Oh btw this Sasaki kid is supposed to be very good and potential no 1 pick in the 2027 MLB Draft

The 2023 Regional Bowl Games are in the books. There were a lot of great games this weekend and just a couple disappointments. These are the outcomes by section.

CCS section won 3 of their 5 games for 60% win rate against sectional competitors. Serra had an Open division bye so 4 teams will represent next week.
CS section won 4 of their 6 games for a 67% win rate.
LAS section won 2 of their 3 games for a 67% success. Fairfax had a bye week because of an odd number of total number of CA bowl teams. They will have 3 teams representing next week.
NCS section won 5 of their 8 games for a 63% win rate.
NS section won 2 of their 4 games for 50% success rate.
OS section's lone team McClymonds lost. Is this the first time Mack has lost a RBG game? I can't remember another time.
SDS section won only one of their 6 games for 17% win rate against other sections.
SFS section, like OS, lost their only game. And like the OS section, I think this is their first RBG game loss.
SJS section won 3 of their 7 games for a 43% success. However, this rate is not equally representative since D-2AA paired Grant @ Rocklin for an inner-sectional game. Of the 5 cross-sectional games they won 2 of 5 of them for a 40% win rate.
SS section won 7 of their 13 games for a 54% win rate. But similar to SJS, they had two inner-sectional games. At D-2AA, Orange Vista was paired with La Serna and D-5AA Ramona was paired with Torrance. In their cross-sectional games, they won 5 of those 9 games for a 55% win rate. And like CCS, Mater Dei had an Open division bye so they will have 8 teams representing at the SBG games.

Most of the games I saw were interesting but a few stood out.
The Grant @ Rocklin game was fun to watch, where Grant did much better than I thought possible.

The Pittsburg @ Folsom game was incredible. I kind of thought Pitts had a real chance to beat Folsom and they did not disappoint.

The St. Bonaventure vs St. Augustine game was intense. It seemed SA was going to win throughout most of the game but St. Bonny pulled it out.

The El Cerrito @ Los Gatos game was very competitive. It was a bit boring if one wanted the flashy, high scoring game. But tactically, it was one of the best of this weekend.

Some games that disappointed me.
The biggest in my mind was Clovis North @ De La Salle. CN did not come to play and DLS walked all over them. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the DLS dominance but as far as a competitive game, it failed.

I thought Orland fell flat with their game with Woodland Christian. Orland had trouble with the game all night.

Although not unexpected, I was hoping South San Francisco would show a little better with Colusa. But I am happy with the small town win for Colusa.

I was expecting a good game between Banning and La Jolla Country Day. But LJCD just couldn't perform.

Golden State Prep has moved to #6 in the Nation in the latest Post Grad polls. Even though only been around for 5 years, GSP has become one of the top programs in the Nation, with wins over #1 Link Prep and #5 Fork Union Military Academy.

Next season, GSP has already committed 3 players with 4+ D1 Offers, and are expected to be the Pre-season #1 ranked team in the Nation. GSP plans to attend more East Coast Events, chasing the Post Grad National Championship.

Getting ready here at YVHS….

YVHS is 22-6, the #1 seed in this tourney, and ranked #2 in NCS div. 4.

CVC is 21-7, the #2 seed in this tourney, and ranked #11 in NCS div 1.

These two faced each other earlier this season, and YV broke open a close game at halftime to win. 66-39. However…. CVC’s two top stars were in the midst of a 5-game suspension…. Things would have been different with those guys around…

Should be a terrufic game!

Meanwhile, I am watching the girls’ title game between Miramonte and heavily-favored Acalanes…. Just ended the 1st quarter, and Miramonte had a halfcourt try catch iron and glass but bounce out…. 15-11 Acalanes.

Well both Montgomery and Cardinal Newman took care of business tonight to set up the North Bay League Championship game Friday night at 7:45 pm at Rancho Cotate High School.

It's looking like the winner of this game not only gets the NBL champion designation but with the likely move of Branson to the NCS Open the winner will get the 1 seed in the NCS D2 section playoffs. The loser could get anything from 2-4 seed and a potential road game (vs a league champ) in rd 1.

I expect a packed house of Cardinal Newman haters rooting against both of the CN squads. (The girls play Maria Carrillo at 6pm in the girls championship game)

Should be alot of fun!!!
