If Clayton Valley wins tonight, here are 4 reasons why Del Oro will play Pleasant Valley in D2AA.
1) Enrollment Based - Clayton Valley 1999 - Del Oro 1703
2) Competitive Equity 3 year records. Clayton Valley 39-4, Del Oro 27-15.
3) Common Opponent: Folsom 27, CV 26 - Folsom 31, DO 0
4) Del Oro vs Pleasant Valley will make the CIF lots of $$$$

I think it is very obvious, why we will see a Del Oro vs PV game next week. CV will be the 1A selection and play Liberty-Bakersfield. Biggest question now is where will the game be played?????? Lots of rain this week so turf is the only option. YUBA College? True neutral site. I am sure both programs would love to host. Del Oro has a good arguement as a game at Del Oro HS could draw upwards of 7500-10,000 fans. This could easily be a $50k, night for the CIF. We have seen in the past where the games at Del Oro sell out with crowds quoted in the Sac Bee of close to 10,000 fans. I have never seen a crowd that large at DO, but I have seen 7000 and it is an amazing HS venue for a football game. I guess we will find out tomorrow.

1AA: Folsom/Elk Grove Winner vs Bellarmine
1A: Clayton Valley vs Liberty (Bakersfield)

2AA: Pleasant Valley (Chico) vs Del Oro
2A: St. Francis vs Oak Grove

3AA: Riordan vs Milpitas
3A: Campolindo vs Hanford

4AA: Sonora vs McClymonds
4A: Sutter vs Bradshaw Christian

5AA: Sierra (Manteca) vs Berean Christian
5A: Immanuel vs Fall River

6AA: East Nicolaus
6AAP: Stone Ridge Christian vs Mission-SF.

I would hope the committee doesn't match up section vs. section. NorCal games in basketball have always been great when you play a team you aren't familiar with.

Travel wise, Del Oro is a good matchup for PV and vice versa because it is easier than having them match up with a Bay Area team.

I've seen both teams though and I think Del Oro would win handily.

Oroville would also be an option. Beautiful big stadium with lots of room. Yuba only has bleachers on one side and from experience will not facilitate a Regional playoff game. When Sutter played both regional games both facilities were filled. Acalanes was actually over flowing and the game had to be stopped to get Sutter crowd off the track area simply because there was no where to put them. Would be difficult regardless of how well they played last night to give Del Oro a 6 loss team home field over an undefeated league champion. I wouldn't think Del Oro stadium is an option. But then again I wouldn't think teams that don't win their section would still be alive.

fairmair3, help me out here, maybe I'm slow but not sure I get the point of your last sentence.

I thought regionals had to be played at a neutral site but then again I guess I don't know all the rules on this topic. DO would be glad to host the game ;) and agree with Decoydan that Golden Eagle stadium is a great football environment and would draw likely capacity+.

Smashmouth, sorry for the confusion. That was a comment on the CCS and the decision to allow non section winning teams to move on. And I was also thinking neutral site but maybe that is not the case either

If a DO/PV matchup transpired, Oroville would be a great venue! It's a beautiful stadium, only about 5 years old -- saw an Oroville game there last year, terrific place for a game. Although a neutral site is ideal, whatever gets the CIF a better payday will be the deciding factor! As far as a matchup goes, does CIF really want to matchup St. Francis and Oak Grove again? Could see SF or OG meeting up with DO.....heck could even be Milpitas seeing they both played Bellarmine fairly well.....so maybe not that obvious.

I agree, I forgot about Harrison stadium. Great venue. I doubt the CIF would ever admit it but financially having local teams play each other will attract more fans and keep travel cost down. Del Oro vs Milpitas would be interesting. Does Del Oro with a 7-6 record get to host or does a runner up CCS team get to host?

Harrison stadium has submitted a "bid" to host a game. As far a neutral site Sutter played MC a couple years back at Harrison and it certainly favored Sutter with being a 45 min drive compared to MC 2:30ish.

Guess this should have been titled "4 reasons why Del Oro will play Liberty High in Bakersfield!!"
