What was thought to be an exciting shootout rapidly turned into a route as Campolindo took the opening kickoff
by Kannah Cruikshank and raced 98 yards that was the beginning of the end, .Six minutes later, Matthew Blair booted a FG and it was 10-0....What made it so tough for Miramonte was that big offense and defensive line kept the Miramonte QB on the run and he had 27 attempts and hit only 10 and the ground game had its moments...To make things worse, Miramonte never threaten and even the running game struggled, in the early going, there were runs of 12 and 24 yards and late in the game there was a 12,13 and a 15 yarder, but none made any difference....The likes of the cougar defense led by Sterling Strother, Wyatt McNeil, Joey Berzins, kept the Miramonte offense off balance...in the mean time, Jacob Westphal engineered the offense and running backs Matthew Ringguist and Niki Moore spearheaded the running game...There was nothing that the Mat's tried to do to turn the game around that would work....Now Campolindo missed one FG and Miramonte had a forth and five and the play backfired and it led to a 32 yard drive that helped make the score at half 23-0...One other thing Miramonte attempted to do was side line passes and all six failed.
For Miramonte, they had 12 first downs, four penalties for 35 yards, punted twoicem never fumbled but were intercepted three times by circus catches...the ground game netted 146 yards on 26 carries and 95 yards through the air on 27 tries and only 10 completions.
For campolindo, the ground game gained 187 yards on 34 carries and went to the air 14 times and hit seven for 92 yards...the cougars racked up 11 first downs, had five penalties for 40 yards, punted twice and never fumbled plus three timely interceptions that were circus catches...
