Might as well start a new thread for this now.

My official prediction..

1 AM
2 PW
3 VC
4 SI
5 PRES
6 MENLO
7 SF
8 ESCP

There’s only one league matchup that you can’t avoid.. so either menlo is 6 or they flip flop them with Pres. SI and Menlo played earlier so maybe they would try to avoid a rematch, but then again I don’t think they’ll shy away from putting PW vs SF again which was not pretty the first time.

You had me until ESCP. I'm guessing Paly gets that dreaded spot instead.

Fwiw, I think SF would fare better in a rematch with PW, though PW would still win easily.

not sure how menlo got seeded higher than pres and sf??

All the other divisions look correct. at least the top 4 seeds in each division look correct.

Big upsets in NCS and SJS. Not March yet, but feel the madness!!!

Tough break with SHC not making it. Play a challenging schedule with some slip ups and it can become an issue

more about matchups when they do the CCS Open. Always has been. After the top 4, its about who they want playing who.

Not really - South City probably their best win. Certainly have no complaints with the seeding. Hope Paly and Sequoia square off.

Sequoia really hoping to play Paly. The sophomore guards on both sides all know each other having played club against each other practically since 4th grade.

But that most assuredly would not be an AAU-style affair if Paly does face Sequoia. In fact, it would be the precise opposite of the typical AAU ballgame. The Sequoia style would dictate a low-scoring half court contest with a strong emphasis on careful shot selection and judicious use of the shot clock. Running up and down the floor in a guard-oriented search for treys is not Sequoia's M.O. at all. Maybe Paly wants to play like that. Who knows.

AM by.. running clock.. too many horses
PW by running clock? maybe SF makes some adjustments? I'll say 35 to be safe
SI by 10. Sometimes harder to beat a team by more the second time around
Pres by 6. Because heck its no fun to just pick the chalk.. gotta throw an "upset" in there somewhere

Yup and its real interesting because those three guards have to play two completely opposite styles in AAU vs school due to coaching preference. They are more versatile overall because of it.

Another fun fact: those three went 41-0 in middle school together for three years.

Curious who those sophs play AAU for?

Another fun fact: Arguably the best defensive guard Steve Picchi has had in his 40-year coaching career is Alexis Jackson, a Sequoia sophomore. Not sure if you include her in your discussion. In the PAL Tournament, she had 19 steals and at least that many tipped balls over two days. She also rebounds well and sprints the floor. A terrific ambidextrous athlete, a disruptive force who is just beginning to tap her potential on offense. She anchors a defense that has been clamping down on opponents with regularity. It has become Sequoia's signature, with the quick, agile Jackson helming the show. By the way, Jackson did not receive a single vote for all-league. Makes you wonder what folks are watching.

Yes, she is part of it.

We will be rooting hard for Menlo where the rest of the aau teammates and friends all hail from.

AM vs PW part 4. The monarchs have won the last 3 CCS Open Titles vs PW by an average of 14 pts. Personally I don't see this year being too much different and think AM will win by about 10. Since CCS open started it has only been won by WCAL teams. Mitty with 4, SI and SHC with 1 each. Is this the year that it changes and Pinewood ends the streak? Might be their best shot at it for the next few years

Rumor has it that Menlo coaching staff was complaining how Menlo should have received an even higher seed than 5! Hilarious! They also said that the wcal is overrated and that the wbal is a better league. Please....

Menlo should have been the 7th seed in my opinion. Glad to see SI show them what the wcal is about!
