The wildcats on the opening kickoff saw Peterson fire off a 40 yarder and then a 13 yard pass as MC marched down the field at what looked like a scoring drive only to stall on the seven yard line....now the wildcats had a later drive stall the same way and in the final minutes the Wlofpack put up one more goal line stand on the one yard line as time ran out....Now both teams were plagued with penalties that hurt drives and in the early going, the Wolfpack had a hard time getting started due to a stubborn Wildcat defense, but Davis, McFarland,Haden Jr. and Griffin Jr. began finding holes in the wildcat defense late in the first Quarter and then the Wolfpack offense began to open up as a 27 yard TD run was called back on a holding penalty. But McFarland got Cosumnes Oaks on the board with 5:31 left in the second quarter with a seven yard run and then thru the third quarter both teams were grinding away at each other but nothing was happening, but the fourth quarter saw McFarland pull in a 10 yard pass for a TD and Davis with a seven yard run and the Wolfpack held the Wildcats scoreless.

Now the wildcats have a QB on the JV's named Spencer Petreas at 6-4 and 182 with a strong arm who can fireoff a pass at a good 40 to 50 yards, so this kid may be next years QB.

For Marin catholic, the wildcats racked up 12 first downs. punted twice , picked off one Wolfpack pass carried the ball 25 times for 83 yards and thru 23 passes for 169 yards and seven penalties for 50 yards that took their toll on drives...Peterson got off passes of 40,13,14,46,15 and 18, but a bend but don't break defense held MC in check.
For Cosumnes Oaks....The wolfpack ran up 19 first downs punted four times were intercepted once but took a beating on nine penalties for 75 yards that killed possible drives...The running game saw the Wolfpack rack up 37 carries for 198 yards and fired 21 passes for 162 yards ..

Wow, guess I underestimated Consumnes, really thought Marin was going to run the board with them and the rest of their schedule, very surprised

Sutter had 7 on 7 this summer with Consumes and they were very athletic. More surprised MC was shut out than I am that they lost. They must have O Line issues.

Farmair3.......Consumnes Oaks was running a 3-5 front line defense most of the day and the five came in very fast to fill any defensive holes which held MC to 83 yards rushing... Both lines looked to be equal in size at most positions.....

Just shows you how different the competition level is from the North Bay to the Valley.

And MC was supposed to be the TOP team. Wow!

That was definitely a surprise. CO was very athletic, but MC looked explosive vs them but couldn't finish their drives. CO converted in key situations & MC did not. Once MC finds themselves, they have the guys that will make them tough to stop. Not sure why QB did not run more. CO should have a solid year, will cause matchup problems with most teams. The game was on the Cube.

CO is good. But remember they are not even a top team in their own area.

I was just pointing out the real difference between top teams in certain areas and real tough competition.

The way they played yesterday not on the top 5 list. Same thing happened last season though. MC got hot late in the season. Thing is they looked more explosive last season.

Teams from the North Bay play out of section games every season though so they know tough competition.

I can't wait to see what happens in the CN vs. CVC game.

I have a good idea about what is going to happen. I just don't want to ruffle any feathers yet ☺

If CVC can hang with Folsom that tight, I have no hope for Cardinal Newman as i dont think they are nearly the complete team that Clayton is

I agree. From what I saw from CVC, they should win that game big.

C VC will be a tough matchup physically and synleticay for CN.
CN....Is a far better team this season vs. last year, while Jackson is more explosive for CVC, CVC will have its hands full due the fact that Brookshire is far improved at QB and it looks like CN will be ready for CVC....

CVC goes 50 plus guys deep. Nobody plays both ways. CVC defense is stout.

Folsom is FAR superior to CN and CVC took them to the wire.

I know some people don't like to hear it, but CN is going to get blown out.

CV graduated a good number of starters, and CN returns many. Would not be surprised if CN wins.

People forget how good these ELK Grove schools are and how many D1 athletes they have year in and out. Hats off to CO. I don't think Newman will get blasted by CVC but I would say the eagles will pull away in the 2nd half. Too physical for Newman but Brookshire and gang will get theres.

Larrylegend i can respect that. I anticipate something similar. I can see the game being very similar to last year where Cardinal Newman hangs around but eventually is out away by size both physically and team numbers!

CN needs to worry about SMS this Friday first ;-)
they will have their hands full in that one...

CVC after that will definitely pose a BIG challenge....Cronin does a good job of playing up the underdog CN vs the world angle...so the team will be ready. I do think CN will score some points though....Brookshire has taken some major steps forward as a QB, he's a true dual threat now and CN has some solid skill position players, so don't be surprised if CN gives them a competitive game offensively......the question will be defensively if CN can slow down CVC at all.... not sure they can, although the Def is MUCH improved over the last couple of yrs..... I would say CVC deserves to be a pretty heavy favorite for sure...so cant argue with G61 on this one.

Newman doesn't have a great line this year (they have a couple good linemen, but don't matchup with CVC). . Brookshire is a very good athlete, but will be tough for Newman to run so will have to put it up. From what I saw, CVC has a good secondary as well. Will be a surprise if Newman can match up with CVC this year. That CVC offense is going to be tough for Newman to stop.

I'm not looking past St Mary's of Stockton. Lets be realistic this is every bit as tough of a game as CVC. St Mary's lost a close game to a 14-1 grant team in section D1 SJS finals.

St. Mary's lost a lot of talent to graduation last year, including most of the line, the QB, RB and a couple of very good WR's. It is a total reload year for the Rams, with many young players. The 5'4" slot WR is lone returning key starter and looked really good in the scrimmages vs Granite Bay and Vacaville. If CN does not have a good DL, it could be a long game and a similar result of last year's game for CN vs St. Mary's. But, because the Rams are young, especially on defense (no more Khahil Hodge at Mike), CN and other teams may be able to capitalize and take the game to St. Mary's. I don't think St. Mary's will be as strong as last year's team. But, I do believe they will be stronger the following year. There are some pretty good sophomores in the wings, waiting their turn. A couple have moved up to Varsity. It will be interesting if they get some playing time, especially RB Dusty Frampton. Should be a good game @ CN.

At least the game is at CN, in Santa Rosa.

Based on what happened at one of the games in Stockton last week, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near there.

Maybe bulldoggmgc can look at some real estate when he is out in Santa Rosa? I am sure the uptick in the housing market has allowed you to finally sell that underwater Stockton pad of yours ;)

I think Newman has a very good and veteran line. Probably the biggest they have had. They can possibly beat both teams. Not far fetched. CVC & SM are not very veteran and CN is. All teams well coached.

Just a thought on CVC from what I observed during the Folsom game...

CVC literally has no kicking game. They went for it on 4th down EVERY TIME. They refused to kick extra points and went for 2 points EVERY TIME. I am not sure if that is just arrogance or the lack of a kicker. They did this against a stout team like Folsom so I can pretty much guarantee that they will not kick the ball ever against CN.

This will either work for or against CN. Should be interesting.

Maybe CVC likes to gamble? If not it would be shocking to not have a kicker, you would think with all the guys they got they would have one

I am not exactly sure. I heard (through a 3rd party of course) that the CVC coach just likes to always go for it. He was also good friends with the Folsom coach and probably wanted to beat him really bad, hence the always gambling to go for it. That is the only thing I can thing of.

It would be hard to fathom a team as good as CVC not having a kicker. Especially on a massive roster where nobody plays both ways.

I had heard Khahil Hodge ended up at CCSF that true? Good ballplayer tough to replace a kid like that.
