Decided to stay home and not try to get in at DLS...

Hard to tell yet, since freshman games don't exactly fill the gym anywhere, but it did seem more sparse than usual in the stands as DLS Frosh handled DV, 61-41.

DLS JV’s won by quite a bit, dunno how much because the in-cam scoreboard decided not to work after it has worked perfectly thru the freshman game.


Anyway, cue the bagpipes…. playing for a near-empty gym.

Should be an interesting matcup…. DV is undefeted, but hasn’t played anybody the likes of DLS yet (provided they are at full strength).

Well, now the gym looks maybe a quarter-full, so if they are limiting the attendace, they’re not doing it very well…

Anyway, looks like both Blair and Semany are back from their Covid “vacay”…

Beasley hits a 3 to open things up…. 3-0 DV.

DV gets a stop, then scores inside to make it 5-0…

Semany drives toward the bucket, is fouled.. FT’s split. 5-1 DV.

Beasley bounces one off the rim and in. 7-1.

Flanagan with a hook, 7-3. DLS gets a stop, Webster hits a 3! 7-6 DV.

Sparty steal and score, they lead 8-7.

DLS gets a stop, pass to um.. Johnson, I think… He scores. 9-0 run makes it 10-7 Sparty. They get another stop…. and Webster nails another 3! 13-7 DLS.

Beasley fouled, FT’s split. 13-8.

Flanagan with an inside bucket…. 15-10.

Beasley takes a nice pass, goes in among the trees, scores anyway.. and fouled. FT good. 15-13.2:15 left 1st.

Semany scores inside off a nice pass…. 17-13. DV travles, DLS gets the rock back…. 1:45 left.

Blair with a nice baseline moves and midrange score…. 19-13.

DV gets a score…. 19-15.

Sedilla nails a DV 3 after a Sparty turnover…. 19-18. And that’s how the quarter ends.

Charging foul on Voorhees, DV gets it back.

STRONG inside move by DV’s Edmonds…. 21-20.

Sevilla sores for DV to get the lead back, 22-21.

After a stop, Sevilla goes inside again, is fouled…. Time out Spartans. He’ll have a pair when they hit the court again…. Splits ‘em. 23-21 DV.

Blair charges… DV ball. 4:45 left. Beasley now at the line after a few ugly possessions…. Hits both. 25-21. Beasley appears to have hurt an arm, comes out. But he’ll be right back in next break…

Trade of buckets, 27-23.

Jordan Webster with the move of the night so far, results in a bucket. 27-25 DV, time out…

Another great Webster move ties it up…

Terrific Webster pass to Flanagan, 29-27…. 8-0 run by Sparty. Make that 10-0 after a Sparty steal and score by…. Guess who? Webster. 31-27, Beasley fouled, hits a pair. 31-28.

Flanagan grabs an offensive board, is fouled on the putback attempt…. FT’s good, 33-29.

Nice hi-lo play, Blair to Flanagan, but DV ties it with a 3-ball. 35 all.

Johnson scores after an offensive board, Sparty back in fron 37-35. 4:32 left 3rd.

Blair with a TREMENDOUS swat, leads to FT’s by Webster.FT’s both good. 39-35 Spartans. I believe the announcer said that both Webster and Beasley have 17 to lead their teams.

Semany can block shots, too…. Wells with a nice baseline drive to get the lead to 41-35. DV gets one to fall…. 41-37, time out.

DV scores on a baseline J…. 41-39. Blair scores inside to make it 43-39….

Great cut by Beasley to get a layup…. 43-41. Johnson drives and scores to make it 45-41. Beasley with a terrific move to score, 45-43 Spartans, and that ends the quarter.

Semany to a wide-pen Flanagan for an easy score…. 47-45. Foul, DV hits 1 of 2. 47-46.

He follows that act with an old-fashioned 3-point play…. 50-46.

Beasley with a steal, but Flanagan swats away a shot…. same score, 5:17 left. but Sevilla hits a 3! 51-50 DV.

Beasley shot bounces just off…. Pass down low to Johnson, he scores, and is fouled!

FT is missed, but Flanagan swept up the board and got fouled…. First no good, 2nd good. 53-51 Spartans, 4:20 to go…

Semany drives left, is fouled…. and appears to be badly hurt; he’s still down and the trainers are on him. Time out…. 53 all.

He’s up now, looks like it *might* be a false alarm…. I think someone landed on him and he tweaked a knee or ankle slightly…. Slightly or not, they hurt…. But he’s back to take the FT’s. Both missed…. 53 all, 3:20 left…

Airball 3 by DV, still tied…. Well, Semany just grabbed his knee again. Non-contact.. Ugh. Time out.

He’s limping off… I doubt he plays any more tonight.

Blair gets it outside, Beasley on hm hard, he gets past and is fouled…. FT’s good. 55-53, and…. a T called on the DLS bench. Beasley gets the shots, splits ‘em. They say the DLS coach was too far on the floor.

Blair with a steal at midcourt! He tries to take it to the hoop, his shot rolls off, but Webster grabs the miss and put it back in! 57-54 Sparty in the lead…. 2:19 left.

Beasley ends up driving after a wild possession where they almost lost the rock two or three times…. and Flanagan takes the charge! Pass down to Webster, he makes a teardrop… but charges! DV ball again. Sevilla nails a 3 to tie it up! 57 all. 1:16 left.

Semany, just back in the game, travels. 1:12 left, still 57-all, DV ball with a time out.

Blair tries a 3 from the top, no good, Sevilla grabs the ball and is fouled. 2 shots. Both good…. 64-59.

Semany with a driving try, no good…. DV rebound, time out, 13.7 seconds left. Unless something completely nuts happens, DV’s gonna get this one…
