Both teams had an easy first round game. Round two could be a challenge for both if they don't come prepared and focused. James Logan played Clet pretty well if I recall for just about 3 quarters in the foundation game. CLet was obviously just getting together with their new coaching staff and the smoke from the Paradise fire didn't allow them and many other teams to practice.

San Leandro like James Logan will also be the loose under dogs with nothing to lose.

Obviously it looks like Heritage will have to get past SRV and Clet will have to get past California. But all four teams expected to reach the final four better play it one game at a time is my point. There really is no girls basketball team thats unbeatable. Best wishes to all teams in all sections of the post season.

Good for San Leandro girls. Great win

Any thoughts about the impact Heritage will have with a player (Lacey Santos) going down this late in the season to a knee injury? Does San Leandro matchup well enough to make this a good game? Did that make it harder for Heritage to match up with C-let should they both meet again for the 3rd season straight in the NCS championship? Injuries really suck ! I've never seen Santos ( a freshman) play.

What about Amador Valley knocking off American? I would have guessed American vs California would have been a good game. Do you think Amador Valley vs California will be close? I noticed California beat them by about 10 points when the two played just once this season.

I think of all the games in this round San Ramon Valley vs Mission San Jose could be the closest. Any thoughts?

Will C-Let have any trouble with James Logan?

Heritage will not have any issues with San Leandro. I do really like that group though! That's now two years in a row they have pulled off a first round upset. Heritage will pressure their guards and the SL bigs won't have much of an impact against Muse. Too disciplined of a team and they will get out and run on them. C let is favored going into the matchup and losing santos certainly does not help Heritages odds. I just think C let is too experienced and too balanced to lose. Take away Ali and they will counter you right away and exploit you. Erica Miller is great from 3 and their role players can make you pay.

I thought American would win too. They are a real good team and had a great season this year. I'll take Cal at home. Amador has a good 5 to 6 but is not deep enough to hang with Cal in my opinion on the road. I'll say Cal by 8.

I'll never bet against Doug at MSJ! This should also be a close game I could see it playing out a couple different ways. I'm not sure MSJ is deep enough to trade blows with SRV but we will see. I'll take SRV

James logan has zero shot at beating C let. Game should be over by half honestly.

AV beat Dublin the 2nd time around and was ahead of SRV by 7 heading into the 4th quarter in the EBAL championship game last week, so there is zero chance Cal will be taking them lightly. They’ve clearly improved over the second half of the season since Cal’s 10 pt victory. This should be a battle to the end.

Paytc, if Heritage matches up with Clet in final, losing Santos is a very big deal. Heritage is not that deep in the first place, so it is a big blow. Santos is good size 5’10” so she would match up well with the size of Clet. She is an all around good player that can shoot the 3, handle the ball, smart, good defense and good rebounder. Losing Santos hurts their chances against upsetting Clet. But the way this year has been going, it would not be a shocker.

I think the Amador Valley/California game will have about the same result as last time. The teams match up pretty well, the difference being that AV doesn't have any answer for Audrey Moulton. She's just too disruptive on both ends.

I see San Ramon Valley over Mission San Jose by 15-20. Where SRV runs into problems is when the other team has a strong post, which MSJ doesn't have. I expect MSJ to double Paige Gerhart to take the ball out of her hands which, if SRV has a normal shooting night, is going to result in a lot of good looks and a high scoring game for SRV.

So much for me as a prognosticator.

Hey couple of things have to be taken into account. First off California has to earn the right to be considered an intimidating opponent. It appears AV wasn't intimidated. And the actual game will always be the determining factor when it is all said and done.

Some thing told me to warn the final four that nothing is final until each game ends.

Congratulations Amador Valley !

Anyone saw the SRV-Mission game? Looks like it was a close game.

Yes, the score was tight the whole way. Both teams shot and executed very well. MSJ played half court 1-2-2, which SRV struggled against. SRV played man and pressed quite a bit. MSJ dealt with both, but had to do a lot of work to do so. In the end, I think SRV's greater depth and size kind of wore MSJ down.

we were at Carondelet last night. Rough night and Nobody is beating Carondelet in this NCS. My nephew was there and said cal looked and played bad, real bad. Like they were out of gas and had no energy from the start. Neither team was very good he said and it was a game of who could be better on a bad night.

Reading the above post, I wish our JL girls could “ struggle” against any defense as Personalogic says and still get 80 points. In comparison We only scored 70 three times all year, two of which were against bad teams, one against MSJ. Give us an 80 point struggle any day.

Heritage wins v SRV, Carondelet crushes AV.
Carondelet wins v. Heritage
Then Carondelet starts begging weak teams to get on its schedule for next year because their dominance is over. Congrats to Coach Cheri on getting the most from our girls this year. It was fun to watch

I'm not sure I would be printing ( in ink) C-let ( who are the favorites) are already the NCS champions. I think Heritage could definitely matchup well against C-let. And it's hard to beat a good team 3 straight. That said, I think the pivotal game is Heritage vs SRV. I agree C-let would most likely beat SRV and should also beat Amador Valley, who actually gave C-let a good challenge until about the middle of the 3rd quarter. C-let is a good team. But not so good that they can just show up and beat any of the teams left in the final 4. That includes Amador who they should beat easiest of those remaining in the tournament. But they still must win each game.

As far as next year C-let should be reloading and figuring out a schedule that starts off easier and progresses later when they get better chemistry and confidence going. Will they be favorites over MM, SRV, and California? Probably not. But they will be good enough to possibly pull the upset over at least 2 of the 3, if not all of them. Not because they will be so great. But because they will still be pretty good and the other teams won't be great. Of course that is just my opinion. Based on the fact that I don't over use the word "great." I think things will be in better focus once next season's team is finalized and the schedule determined. Will C-let get a transfer or two in a down season might be the question that contributes more to the outcome. Sometimes "teams" play better as a "team" with less so call D1 players. Because they have to rely on and trust each other more. Staying healthy will be another key for C-let and all teams next season.

I think SRV is going down to division 2 next year. Is Miramonte going D1?

I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say CLet won’t be the favorite in the EBAL next season (if they are not independent again), and that beating Cal or SRV would somehow be upsets. They’ll clearly drop some from this year, but until someone beats them they will remain the favorites. 1) CLet, 2) SRV, 3) Cal, 4) Dublin.

That said, if I was SRV, I would not want to automatically cede that league champ status to CLet next season without having to earn it on the court. The team SRV will have coming back next season has a chance to upset the perennial champions.

Not sure. I was just mentioning 3 of the better East Bay teams that may play one another at some point perhaps pre, post ,or regular season scheduling next season.

True observeer22. But I think it's fair at this point before the final roster is finalized to say C-let might be at least a slight under dog to MM,SRV, and California. Just because (based on what each team has in terms of returning starters) the other teams are returning more starters than C-let. So you have to give the early season confidence edge to the other teams. At lest until confidence and chemistry kicks in for C-let.

Can we be serious here folks? I watched the Carondelet “ bench” play last night in our game. Against our “ bench” they weren’t much better.
I’m not trying to belittle the girls, and wish all of them well, but let’s keep it real. Unless someone shows up at Carondelet this fall as a transfer or stud freshman, the starting five at Carondelet next season will have 4 players that wouldn’t start on any of the teams you mentioned. Maybe 1-2 would be a starter at Logan.

Good programs reload...

I for one am NOT buying the demise of the CLET program next year.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Exactly. No one is saying there gonna win the Open this season, the past 4 or 5 seasons, or next season. But they will still be one of the better teams in the Bay area. They may go from a top 5-8, to a top 10- 16. But fact is we don't know who they will start the season with next season. And we've already said they might be the under dogs to MM,SRV, and California. Because unlike those teams Clet has no returning starters. They return a few good players and I'm sure will put together a pretty solid and competitive team. And the teams that may be better and/ or deeper won't have that much of an advantage that we should say stick a fork in C-let their done before they make their selection of players and tip off next season.

And I can think off hand of 3 return players Jayme, Blackard, Annie Bonderer and Kimani Holloway who could have started on any of the 3 teams I mentioned this season. And they'll be a season older next season. Not saying they would have but they definitely can play with C-let's starters and anyone else. I also know they have a few JV players who will contribute as well as several good freshman coming in. Then should they get a transfer or two and stay healthy who knows.

MM heard the same nonsense about how horrible they were gonna be after Sabrina graduated. We see how right those well worshippers were. Much continued success to C-let and all others.
