ESPN Rankings - Who is promoting NorCal?

#2 Kyree Walker is pretty much a NorCal guy, or at least was until he transferred for next year. What other players do you think have been overlooked in those rankings?

It's a general observation. There is not a lot of attention given to NorCal players. As a result, they are slow to get local/national attention, and often fall behind other regions in pulling scholarships vs. like players.

As for who could have been considered, Kendall Munson, Hunter Clarke, and Jelani Clark come to mind for 2020; as for 2019, James Akinjo was not getting much attention until his recent performance with the Soldiers; but he has been playing strong for a while. Zach Chappell also comes to mind.

But, again, it's not just about being nationally ranked, it is about sports writers, scouts, whatever, putting in work to promote solid performances at the high school level and/or tournaments, etc. This brings D1, D2 and D3 scholarships. Who is doing that locally?

Shemar Morrow (running mate with Kyree / Kendall / Fred / et al. on those 2020 Oakland Soldiers teams) relocated to SoCal from the Sacramento area before starting ninth grade. I believe that Shemar is originally from Ohio though and was only in NoCal a few years similar to Kyree.

ESPN rankings for 2020 identify only 1 player from NorCal.

Robby Beasley is No. 8 ranked player in the west and top 15 guard nationwide.

Would like to see more scouts and/or coaches promoting NorCal talent.

Wow. Coach Juno really knew talent early. He had almost all those kids at nationals for 6 or.7th grade. Kyree,Shemar, Jalen, Robbey,Josh Christopher. To see how they were good back then and have gotten better.

Northern Californian players always get underrated and under recruited. That's why norcal preps was founded. Look at the history of players from Gary Payton, Lillard, Bshaw...there has been a nice batch or recruits the last 15 years. And so the journey countinues....

With the exception of the soldiers no other team/players are doing to well for us against national ranked competition. This week is especially critical because everyone is in Vegas. This morning alone top norcal teams took a beating with the exception of team aresenal elite. A lot of our top players are on these teams

Hasn't been a great showing this far for the local teams with a strong senior class rising up.

Curious why Jonathan Ned isn't playing local. Doesn't get much run with Dream Vision
