The mighty Bulldogs of Folsom have a critical next 3 weeks- all away games, Pitt, DLS, and Oak Ridge.

Th next three weeks will set the tone for how the Bulldogs season will ultimately go.

A few notes:
Losing Walker Lyons was crushing. He was the best TE in NorCal, heading to Stanford
Rico Flores has been Rico Flores- a top WR in all of CA. Impressive and their main go to guy.
Austin Mack has been impressive. He has been much more nimble than I initially thought. He has an amazing arm and makes good decisions. Crazy to think with all the offers he has, he is still just a junior.

The defense and line play are the biggest issues for Folsom. While they are good enough to beat most teams in NorCal, they will struggle against top tier teams, as they have against Serra. I felt Folsom was much better than Serra- however, without Lyons and the sloppy defensive play, Serra was more disciplined. I think Folsom will likely go 2-1 in this next 3 game stretch.

Of interesting note:

Folsom RB Onterrio Smith Jr, son of former NFL player Onterrio Smith, has played well and is continuing to see quality D1 offers.

Rico Flores is a Notre Dame commit.

After a huge win on the road last night at Pitt, Folsom re-enters the talk for #1 in NorCal.

I predict a 10 point win over DLS next week, AT DLS. I think Folsom will clean it up.

“Huge win at PITT”….. PITT hasent Beat DLS in 30 years and hasn’t won a big game in 30 years as well….. 🤣

Folsom got Manhandled by Serra and got a Lucky win against PITT…. Folsom gets dominated by San Diego Teams…. Folsom is a very beatable team….

With Folsom I ask, where would this team be without transfers. Good for them, but in reality eveyone knows the deal here.

"The Bee reviewed varsity football rosters for every team in the Sierra Foothill League and checked four years of data from the Sac-Joaquin Section to find how many kids moved into a school’s football program after they already had started high school. Folsom had 18 kids on their roster last year who transferred into the program

Folsom’s 18 transfer
s are an eye-popping number, but the quality of those transfers is also impressive. They include the team’s top receiver, two quarterbacks and starting tight end"

Ah how does a team with a -1 versus a team with a -0 become number 1 in Nor Cal. When so far the -0 team beat the -1 team. Please enlighten me QPR.

Was Pitt the team you thought they would lose to in this stretch. It was a great win last night for Folsom

With all due respect Santa Ball, B-F-D. It has been that way for years and it is only likely to become more that way. Go count the numbers at the top 15 programs in CA and I bet you have similarly large numbers. This is what is happening in CA today. The number of kids playing football is diminishing in this state. We are not Texas, Alabama, Mississippi. We are a liberal quack state where folks accept that football is inapprorpriate for Johnny because Johnny might bump his head or get too fattened up to be considered a healthy young man. For kids having potential and an interest, their choices, short of transferring, are often to play on a team with low numbers, low talent, low appeal to really great coaches, antiquated schemes, etc. You must be on drugs to blame these kids for seeking greener pastures. The circumstances dictate that they should in order to puruse their aptitude and interest in the sport, and to continue their development - because high talent kids in other portions of the country are doing just that. Elite players want to be pushed, they want development, they want challenging opponents, they want to be surrounded by kids with similar interests and expectations, and they want exposure to college recruiters. They get all of these things by choosing to play in a very competitive program. So, to speak negatively about a program that accomodates these kids is to speak negatively about the kids themselves. And to do that is just a tad mindless as the sport is here for the kids enjoyment....not yours, not the coaches, and not the medias.

Pitt many not have beaten DLS in 30 years but Folsom has. Agree that the Folsom team has some challenges this year but that was a quality win for Folsom. And, seems to me, Folsom has whipped up on the San Diego teams a couple of times in the past 5 years....but, alas, its expecting to much for you to check before you make those claims.

Agree Folsom played Serra very competitively. But Folsom better watch out for Oak Ridge and Granite Bay. They look much stronger this year. Granite Bay has a coach!

But isn’t that the Point?…. Folsom has beat DLS and PITT has not in 30 years…. So shouldn’t Folsom be expected to beat PITT?….

Folsom was lucky the PITT QB and Special Teams handed Them the game…. PITT rolled up over 425 yards of offense….

Regarding San Diego…. In their last 3 games Folsom won by 7, won in OT by 7 and got Dominated last year Losing by 2 TD’s to a SD Team DLS beat by 4 TD’s…. That is hardly “Whipping Up” on San Diego…🤣

Maybe you should check your facts before you make your claims…. 🤣🤣

Trojan, with all due respect and I mean that. I fell asleep after the origin of species as it relates to hs football evolution. Again, all due respect but not at all pertaining to the question about where would Folsom be? If that honesty stikes a nerve, im not sorry.

"You must be on drugs to blame these kids for seeking greener pastures."

Drugs are cool sometimes, if done safely by adults. Please show me where I blamed kids? This strawman is just weird. I don't blame kids and your point about sac area, foothill numbers being low are just incorrect, specifically SFL. Number in roseville as one example, support 4 high school programs alone.

"So, to speak negatively about a program that accomodates these kids is to speak negatively about the kids themselves"

Accomdates..., bless your heart. And again to suggest speaking negatively about a direct quote from the sacbee, is scope creep my fellow board member. Let me restate my question- where would they be without the transfer talent. You don't have to answer, but would love your take.

"And to do that is just a tad mindless as the sport is here for the kids enjoyment....not yours, not the coaches, and not the medias."

Agree, if I were to call out kids which I don't. Perhaps a hs football board is the place to chat about I dont know, football articles, programs, current events but what do I know. That righteous pedastool your on is wobbly brother, you had to stretch to get there. BFG

meh…using that same argument Serra was lucky to beat Folsom. Right? Two turnovers inside the Serra 10 yard line.

just saying, consistency in arguments is important, otherwise we all turn into Pasty.

Good Point!…. I retract the “Folsom was Lucky to beat Pitt” Statement….. 🤣

But I stand by the rest…. Folsom was expected to beat PITT, so I don’t see that win as really any big deal… It would have been an upset if PITT beat Folsom….

given the current landscape of NorCal football, I don’t think anything is a given especially on the road.

Thiugh I admit the three marquee games this year have been won by the road team.

Watch out for Del Oro, too! I would not sleep on the Screaming Eagles. They appear to be a much different team than last year. Granite Bay beat Folsom 31-21 last season and GB is supposed to be better this year. In my upcoming pick’em for next week, I’m picking DLS but as my low confidence 1 pointer pick. But, wouldn’t be surprised if Folsom beats DLS since so many are saying DLS is not very good this year. In any case, I anticipate a competitive game. I also anticipate a competitive SFL league season. They definitely appear to be the strongest league this season. Outside of DLS for St. Mary’s I believe the SJS D1 section playoffs are going to be a juggernaut (similar to 2009) with much SFL representation and I wouldn’t sleep on Monterey Trail improving and being ready to challenge, as well. Way to early to really gauge but fun to imagine what’s in store.

My point is if you took the Marquee games of Folsom vs Serra, Serra vs DLS, Folsom vs DLS and Folsom vs PITT and said to anyone pick the winner of any of these games….

The one game everyone would pick is Folsom over PITT….. Why, Because Folsom beat PITT 38-17 last year and DLS beat PITT 42-17 last year so why would anyone expect anything but a Folsom win?….

And I am sure if Serra or DLS played PITT, they would be expected to win as well….

That’s fair but it is still a big deal. I think if you list the top results of the season, this would be one of them

I woul probably pick Folsom in the DLS game…. DLS facing Significant injuries and their 3 top linemen are out…. There were kids playing significant playing time up from JV against SDCC this week, it was an amazing effort that DLS even won that game….

The Spartans will play with amazing heart and keep it close like you stated but Folsom will be 2-5 vs DLS after this week…

Which one of DLS’s wins over PITT the last 20 years was a “Top Result of The Season”….. 🤣

PITT is always overhyped and never lives up to it…. I just don’t see it…. 🍻

Actually Streak….. I am being Short Sighted…. IF PITT wins the NCS OPEN, then yes, I would agree, the Folsom win over PITT will be a Top Result or The Season…. So we will see how it all unfolds….🍻

Folsom is a good local team the represents their neighborhood well.

Pitt on the other hand is still milking the last few drops of notoriety of beating DLS in 1991 or there abouts. Since then Pitt has been a midling program in Nor Cal.

Their bark is much worse than their bite.

Good to see you over here Sammy!

I think this is the year PITT gets it done and wins the NCS Open…. This DLS defense is the weakest they have had in the last 30 years….

The only thing that stands in their way is Themselves…. DLS may also have a difficult time with CVC this year…. It’s not out of the question that we could see a PITT vs CVC final in the NCS Open this year…. That would be Crazy!… 🤣

Show me a big game where Rashada has ever shined in? That reason alone DLS beats them

Same place Mater Dei, SJB, and DLS (Sacramento) would be without transfers. :)

Folsom is a bigger and better program than 99 percent of SoCal schools.

They have a better resume than Servite. :)

Folsom beat DLS AT DLS in a playoff game and was a 99 percent winning percentage against the SD section.

And you're still mad lol

I’ve seen all the top dogs in the SFL this year and no way does Folsom go undefeated. That League is way to close. So they will have at least 2 losses. Serra goes again.
AH, just like your infamous predictions of last season. I will quote them:

"larry legend33 said:
Agree with TR. I was in stands for the beatdown of Folsom and I really don’t think it matters who played at Qb for Folsom. Rocklin is so superior physically and Folsom as we know doesn’t like to win in the trenches. Rocklin could have easily won that game by even a bigger margin. They missed so many long passes."

Then Rocklin put up THREE points in the next playoff game!

"larry legend33 said:
Bulldog nation better get ready to go 0-6. The worse matchup they could dream of. DLS is playing great right now. Look for a big win by Spartans. (3+ td)"

"larry legend33 said:
Honestly regardless of the poster Folsom has created a lot of there own issues internally that I think annoys most of us. Rocklin throwing long on Folsom when they were up 30 was a big fu to that program that did that bs for years. Coaches don’t forget. You can win with class and lose with dignity."

You still haven't issued Folsom the public apology you owe them. You have an axe to grind. Folsom owns you Larry.

Yes that would be crazy! A team that has already lost 3 games playing in Open championship! CVC lost to Turlock at home? Turlock not even in top 10 SJS teams. In my opinion CVC being a charter school they are private light. They get a lot of the athletes that don't go to DLS. I have seen them play over the years. And once again in my opinion they are not as strong as in past years. I have already stated I don't know crap about crap! Just the opinion of a casual observer!

Folsom is 17-5 in their last 22 games including a 2 TD Loss to San Diego…. It used to take Folsom 5 years to lose 5 games and Folsom never lost to San Diego….

Add in the Disastrous 2019 Season where The “Most Talented Team In Nor Cal” Lost Twice including a 2 TD Loss to MT in the playoffs and that is 7 losses in 2 seasons…

Folsom Definitely taking a big step backwards…. Losing to San Diego by 2 TD’s, that one must really hurt…. 🤣
