Game Thread: St. Francis vs. Grace Brethren

Vettel to Williams on a 3 yard fade route on 4th down should put this one away. St. Francis leads 22-13 with 152 left.
The Junkie is 3-0. I might lose the next game but I feel comfortable about the rest of the games tonight. Let's go NorCal.

GB is going to be a great team over the next few years will all those underclassmen. Haven't heard the end of them in the bowls.
Solid win for St francis. More aggressive play calling and they likely win by a much larger margin. Not sure why calcagno doesnt trust his QB more. Felt the same way when they played DLS.
This senior class (Reed was the only call up during the regular season) went 2-8 as a JV team. Low numbers, guys playing both ways.
SF should be stout next season as well. Paige, Sinclair, Pokola, Wilmer and lots of others returning. Will need to replace Vetel, hoping for a bigger offensive playbook, but doubt it. This is the conservative clock control offense Ron Calcagno ran.
Grace Brethren is a darn good team with the roster they have of just 36 players and only 5 seniors [SF has 16 seniors]. Highly unusual to have both a frosh RB AND esp a frosh QB. Both those players contributed a lot for their team and amazing to think they'll both be around 3 more years. GB's lines matched up well against SF especially early on. Towards the end of the game they showed that each team had averaged 4.7 yards per offensive play.
With SF's roster of around 60 and only graduating 16 seniors the Lancers look to be solid in 2018 as well.
That was a boring game but I'm glad were up 3-0. How did Grace Brethren end up in this game having won the small school 8A division? Freshmen starting at QB and RB. A very fortunate matchup for St Francis. Both offensive coordinators were poor. A clear drop off from the first two games but at least we got the W. Go Norcal!
Games are about matchups. Some days you can be jack the giant slayer and others just winning ugly is enough.
And, sadly, on other days you are just a bug on the smudged windshield of life.
