I would highly recommend this article done by the Bay Area News Group done on Lou Richie and the movmement to raise awareness on the lack of black head coaches in the PAC-12 and college basketball as a whole

Here is a short news clip on it too

Really good strong stance that LOU took must respect.I personally feel he would be the best choice for san jose st you know he would surround himself with the right experienced sfaff and players would definitely come and play for him.

Very few schools will hire a head coach with zero college coaching experience because of the lack of knowledge of NCAA compliance. It's a major part of the job.

But there is a ton of D1 basketball teams with #2 or #1 assistant being black.

Michigan laid out a pretty good blueprint for it by hiring Howard and pairing him with a veteran like Phil Martelli.

I think it can be doable and would be a worthwhile thing to look into for a NorCal school that is struggling

It would be especially when you are the lowest paying school in the mountain west conference at around 400k some coaches in the lesser big sky conference
make more then that.Bottom line they have brought in coaches that yes knew how to abide by the compliance rules but had no west coast ties in terms of recruiting and if you don't have players who can actually play you ain't winning and not winning will get you fired WINNING and breaking a few minor rules you are allowed to keep your job.(will wade LSU Sean Miller arizona)

It is an interesting discussion in regards to what is an appropriate % of black head coaches? Black Americans represent 13% of the population and currently hold 29.2% of ncaa head D1 coaching positions. Is there any way to have an exact right number? Clearly the main objective is everyone should be getting an equal opportunity to apply and interview.

His protest was about the Pac 12, not all D1.

with the ultra liberal left (west) coast there should obviously be at least 30%
New HS and college golf rules :
handicaps above 18, if your ball is on the green, no need to putt, just pick up
/these entitlements are intended to bring about fairness and, most importantly , equality in scoring. In addition , aplayer will be limited to a max of 1 birdie or 6 pars per round. any excess must be givin to those fellow players who have not yet scored a birdie or par.

I think the issue is head coaching positions
