Nice win by the Irish...on a separate note, what is going on with the freshman team...they started off spectacular and the last two games were blown out?? Do they have injuries I can't believe they can't even score recently?
I'd like an answer to that myself. NFHS was supposed to have a stream of it vs. VC but they had "technical difficulties". Did you get a score?

There were no announcers, but the game was mic'd up and I though it was amusing to hear the fans on the VC side groan and whine after each Irish big play.
The answer is Brody Hatch (Benjamin's brother) was elevated to Varsity. He starts at Left Guard right not to Benjamin at Left Tackle. So when you subtract your best two-way lineman, your offense will struggle as the holes he created for your running game is gone and on defense there is no push/pressure on the defensive front.
Maybe but they have a few other big boys on the line...a couple that are over 250....I don't know how they get shut out two games in a row.
Last win vs VC was in 2008. They had a win in their grasp last year 2021 but a gargantuan play/effort late in the 4th by Jurrion Dickey spoiled an Irish win.
Riordan also has a previous win against VC - back in 2006 which was the worst season for VC except likely this year. Riordan beat VC 34-13 in 2006. An additional bright spot for Riordan this year is that they also beat VC's JV squad 14-7 whereas they lost 6-44 to the 2006 VC squad in 2006.
VC is paying a big price for serious issues at the school, player defections and other concerns. in all probability, it will take at least two years to right the ship. Maybe.
No, I'm aware of Riordan's win last week and it's significance. But VC has been a successful program in the WCAL, and I've never heard of SHC beating them in football. But nice to know SHC already had a W vs VC
SI historically not down very often. Even in down years their offense is pretty fun with a QB that can sling it and a bunch of capable WRs. Their issue is they cant stop anyone. Having the 3 SF schools all be good for consecutive years just aint happening. SH and Riordan pining for the same players year after year. SH has been building quite a staff of coaches for the last 5-7 years that players/incoming players really want to play for. Riordan's last hire shows they mean real business. As long as SH and Riordan are above SI, Im good with that
When was the last SH win vs St. Francis? Was the last win vs Serra the Tom Brady / Jamar Sheppard game?
I'm pretty sure VC had moved to CCS from the NCS by that time and were either in BH-STAL or BH-WVAL.

Irish beat St. Francis in 2008, 24-3 for their first victory in the series so far.
Irish last beat Serra 33-28 in 1997.

Do we really want to rehash VC's issues with coaches involved in sexual abuse cases? Probably not.
This is public knowledge found in the Merc which is serious but not at all widespread.
