Just want to shout out James Akinjo. The lead guard on the #1 in the nation. He is playing some different and great ball. Today locked up Villanova point guard and went for 16-7-5.
culture. baylor has defended at an elite level the last 3 yearsJames always had it in him. He is very talented. He has always played aggressively with a high motor and full effort. I have a lot of respect for his game. To be great, he had to learn to trust his teammates and play a bit more selflessly on the offensive end and take less risks on the defensive end. In high school, he could get away with it (although it did hurt him at times) because he was almost always the best player on the floor. At Georgetown, Ewing gave him a lot of freedom, but he tried to carry the team on his back too much and it led to way too many turnovers and some frustrations with teammates (particularly his backcourt mate Mac McClung), even though he had a fantastic frosh campaign there. I did not see him play that much with AZ last season. However, with Baylor this year, James is really playing well and seems to have adjusted his game at both ends, leading to excellent results and fun to watch. Glad to see him doing so well!!
