Karizma Ortiz transfering from Penn State

yup figured that would be the case once coquese washington was let go.. I'd be willing to bet a lot of big named programs are reaching out to her. There were plenty that tried to get in on her at the end of her high school recruitment

The coach was fired at Penn State, so Ortiz' transfer is no surprise, really. And a lot of times, the East Coast is more alluring in potential than in reality ...

Given all the departures from USC, that could be a landing spot -- and if Ortiz has the resources to lawyer up, she can certainly force the NCAA to grant her immediate eligibility.

Not to hijack the thread but other norcal natives reported to be in the transfer portal....

Maaeva Dwiggins (c-let) - Cal Baptist
Doris Jones (kipp/DVC) - Houston
Naje Murray (SMS) - SDSU
Minyon Moore (Salesian) - USC
Jordan Cruz (mclatchy) - Utah _ at UOP already (transfered midseason)... along with Loretta Kakala from Louisville (transferred before the season started)

It’s that time of the year. Second guessing, second thoughts, homesick, not enough playing time, coaching change, not right system, academics.

The transfer portal is filling up and will probably continue to increase. Hopefully these young ladies second and sometimes third choice works out well for them.

Doris Jones will play at UC Santa Barbara, my alma mater.

Cal has a good shot at Naje Murray.

Minyon Moore's final three: Mississippi State, Baylor and Oregon.

I believe that Murray has already announced that she is going to Cal.

It is interesting to see how the transfer portal is affecting recruiting. The win now mandate doesn't allow for typical development so getting a proven college player, even if its only for a year or two, is better than a potential of 4 years for a HS signee in a lot of scenarios.

From my understanding (and it could be mistaken) Minyon is a grad transfer and will be eligible immediately

Addi Walters (St Ignatius) just announced her grad transfer to Santa Clara U. She will eligible immediately

Eligible right away?
No idea.. but she hasn't even transferred yet.. so even if she petitions to play immediately I don't think the NCAA would decide at this time. I think its typical of the new school to make announcements about that. I could be wrong though. I'm not incredibly versed on the subject
