McKenzie Forbes, who was a McDonald's All-American at Folsom HS, announced tonight that she is transferring from Cal.

It is a transition time for Cal, which lost assistant coach Charmin Smith to the WNBA earlier this offseason and recently lost Lindsay Gottlieb to the Cleveland Cavaliers. They also graduated players like Kristine Anigwe and Asha Thomas.

Forbes led Folsom to the NorCal Open Division playoffs as a senior and was the No. 2 overall prospect in the final 2018 rankings. She played her final summer of club ball with Cal Stars EYBL

She averaged five points in 17 minutes per game as a freshman.

Not a surprise, really. Cal will battle for 11th in the Pac-12 next year, barring the truly unexpected.

It will be interesting to see who will take the job, given the long rebuilding process that appears to be necessary.
