My NorCal picks

Open: Well, y'all know who I'm taking there... Only a lil bit of bias...

D1: Great bracket! Even the 1-16 game is a good one, DV vs SHP-Atherton. I think the winner of this game goes all the way to Golden 1, but it's many, many miles from a lock... I'll go with the Sacred Heart Prep Gators to get the job done.

D2: I'll take Branson. Why? Branson rarely fails to overachieve... Vanden's my 2nd choice.

D3: I was impressed by Central Catholic's showing vs. Vanden in the SJS final, one they might have won if the ref hadn't called a foul on the wrong guy... 2nd choice is Pleasant Valley.

D4: Interesting that the top two seeds are from Redding... I haven't seen many of these teams, but I'll go with Lowell for fun...

D5: Same as D4 for me, but I'll pick Stuart Hall.

Since I'm going to a D1 game tonight, I might as well toss my Round 1 picks in here...

#1 Sacred Heart Prep over #16 Dougherty Valley... Despite the 1-16 seed numbers, this should be one hell of a game to see. This would be the one I'd go to if the games were all the same distance from my abode.

#9 San Joaquin Memorial over #8 Oakland Tech... Haven't seen either team play except online, but I think SJM has had a bit tougher schedule.

#5 Folsom over #12 Dublin... Dublin seems to have faded down the stretch a bit, and Folsom (despite the Modesto Christian beatdown) seems to be getting stronger as we go.

#4 Miramonte over #13 Clovis North... MM's only home loss was to Campo, and Clovis, while solid, ain't no Campo.

#3 St. Ignatius over #14 Clayton Valley Charter... CVC gives everyone a great battle, but just-misses most of the time... I see more of the same here, but it'll be a terrific game anyway.

#6 Northgate over #11 Lincoln... Total pick 'em game! Only reason I take NG is because they're at home. Btw, this is the game I'll be attending. But I wish I could be at all eight.

#7 Grant over #10 Granada... Home team... That's about all I got on this one.

#2 Inderkum over #15 Serra... Indy is just too fast for the Padres... Of these, this is the only one where I see blowout potential. But I think Serra will find a way to keep things kinda close-ish, maybe...

You’re right Kiddman, D1 is a great bracket. All 16 teams are capable of winning a given matchup. The team that can string 4 of them in a row prevails. Obviously the home teams have the advantages, but that is one hell of a bracket 1 through 16. Buckle up! 🍿

call me crazy but I think Serra keeps it closer than one might expect from this matchup. Tough schedule and wins over Mitty and Riordan. Played miramonte even and 4 pt loss to DLS… Serra rarely gets blown out.. @UncleYacht .. upsetcity com? 😎

with the chaotic seedlings it’s hard to make heads or tails of these matchups. Central Catholic who a lot of folks liked got absolutely rail roaded by Bullard. I think the easiest pick for me right now is pleasant valley out of Chico. They could easily be winning games in d1 and d2.
