I'd really like to hear some feedback in regards to the Salesian vs SJND game. Is it just me because I am NOT sure Salesian is the actual favorite going into the game. All the predictions I have seen is Salesian winning D3 and going to Open. SJND is a scary team. They have such good all around talent and play TOGETHER as one unit. They are a well coached bunch and play the game the right way. They don't complain about the officials, they don't get upset if they make a mistake; they play unselfish and for each other. If they win this game, shouldn't they go to the Open? Maybe both SJND and Salesian deserve to be in Open? If the loser of this game doesnt go to Open, they should probably be the top seed in D1. Any one have thoughts on this game?

IMO at the start of the season Salesian had perhaps as much or more talent and experience across the board as anyone. Losing Nia Chinn IMO really hurt them. Because the combination of Angel Jackson and Edwards inside with their guards Angel Galbrath and company driving to the basket and Chinn spotted up outside gave them an incredible amount of scoring options. I had them rated 2nd only behind Pinewood in my preseason ranking with Mitty 3rd as I had no idea Mitty had the transfers they had coming.
I had SMS 4th Clet 5th and SJND 6TH. However when I heard SJND had a few key injuries they fell out of my top ten.

This game and the rest of the season is going to be a heart and gut check for Salesian. Angel Jackson IMO needs to be all she is capable of being the rest of the way. This is the last of what has been a good run for Angel and company that they need to try an put an exclamation mark on it on the way out of high school.

Both teams are well coached with Salesian being the team I believe ( at least recently) with a more successful girls basketball program. They need to make the Moore sisters, their own families, and themselves proud of them. Not to take anything away from SJND because they are very legit. If Salesian doesn't set the tone early and keep the foot on the gas SJND is only gonna make the game harder for them. Salesian will want the refs to let them play. We'll have to watch and see how the game is called. Either way it's not an easy game for either team. MM vs Odowd, Clet vs Heritage, Bear creek vs SMS, Sacramento vs Antelope, Mitty vs Pinewood, etc.... makes for quite an explosive weekend of girls hoops. Best wishes to all the teams !

Whats the reason behind giving the team traveling the farthest (Del-Norte) a friday night game?

Also note that Salesian lost starting guard Bianca Camello as well as Nia Chinn. How many teams would still be standing after losing two starters to season-ending injuries?

I wasn't aware of that injury. Salesian is still a talented and experienced team. So they need to play hard and dedicate the rest of the season to their fallen soldiers. Best wishes to the team ! And a fast and full recovery to all who are injured on all teams.

And don’t forget Heritage’s Star freshman Lacey Santos is also out with an injury. CLet was already a heavy favorite before she went down.

I think Windward might be able to win this time but they must get better at closing games out. Sierra Canyon is on track to possibly get the #1 slot on my SOS poll should they remain undefeated and go on to win the California Open State Championship. So there is a lot riding on the game for both teams.

Favorites no doubt. I wouldn't be inclined to make C-let "heavy favorites" to beat Heritage for the 3rd season straight in the NCS Championship even without Lacey Santos. They didn't have Santos last season and they jumped out early to an 11-2 advantage. And they were within reasonable striking distance going into the fourth quarter before losing by 13.

Obviously C-let is the favorites but they did lose to Folsom. And they did have trouble putting away MM, Clovis North, and Sacramento four teams total IMO that are about on the same level as Heritage.

It should be a competitive game. One where the supporting cast of both teams could be big should the two star players Sweeney and Bamberger get somewhat contained.

Off subject a bit......... but why didn't MM vs Odowd get scheduled to also play at Saint Mary's college?

Because the Campo boys (D3) and the DLS/Carondelet doubleheader will generate more income.
