Great posts earlier on the state games, especially the lively chat on Mitty-Sierra Canyon.

Listen folks, 60% of the state resides in the vast landscape of SoCal and it shows in areas like the Open Division.

Short of taking a great player from each section near the Bay and putting them on one squad, our region will always scrape and scrounge to finish 7-10 points (usually, anyway) short of beating SoCal powers (GIRLS AS WELL AS BOYS) that show up here for state as battle tested squads in a way NorCal teams cannot begin to comprehend.

Agree population has a lot to do with it.

There are roughly 18 million people in the LA metro area.

The Bay Area is about 7 million.

San Jose metro by itself is ~2 million.

That doesn't mean SoCal will win every year. But it's a leg up.

San Jose metro is 2 Million people but how many superior athletes are here? How many former pro players kids and former college athletes(great athletes) kids come out of this area? San Jose metro area doesn't have very many Urban kids either that play girls hoops. yeah I know you don't have to be from a rough area or Urban to be great, look at Sabrina Ionescu or Haley Jones but it's harder to find an Ionescu or Jones than it is the next great athlete out of SoCal. SoCal is where great talent goes to retire and that is where their kids grow up at. Mitty is our Sierra Canyon/Etiwanda and they just got punched in the mouth. Same thing happened to Pinewood the two times they made it. NorCal gonna have to make a super team to win. Sue gonna have to break out a NIL strategy to get that super team and maybe NorCal can win

As I said on the other thread, SC played extremely well and Mitty did not. But Watkins was the only other-planetary talent. If you take her off SC and put her Mitty, it's a totally different game. Ditto if Elle Ladine xfers to Mitty instead of Pinewood. Point being, all it may take is one scintillating talent from a sleepy suburb to get NorCal over the hump.

Hella good at badminton and math tho

It is always instructive to realize that the massive Southern Section, by itself, has more schools than all of NorCal combined.

SC was strong already without JuJu.

Now you are starting to think…
When your opponent has you severely outnumbered you must go to orthogonal
Tactics
NIL supported by our tech rich base in Norcal
Biohacking methods extreme recovery using our tech
Build Athletes Performance/EXOS Sudent Athletes Centers
Use Chase/Golden 1 advantage for games and practices to build familiarity with large sites
Hire Sports psychologist
Use Gorilla Marketing methods
Hire temp part time coaches who are used to coaching teams who are underdogs and used to working with less
Some ideas…anybody else have ideas

How about transfers with no sit out period? I may be wrong and please correct me if I am... but doesn't the Southern section just let the kids transfer anywhere they want to with no sit out? Or have I been misreading all the football transfers in the Trinity League wrong? (and I may be)...feel free to enlighten me if im incorrect.
Its the wild wild west in the Southern section...hard to compete with sections that don't have rules

Hire the Russian Olympic committee to "train" all our athletes?

I guarantee they will all be faster and stronger after about an 8-10 week or so program😛

anybody know how many games Juju sat out transferring to Sierra Canyon… Did players get to sit out without almost no penalty during the COVID crisis?

Not only that, but they let their coaches "teach" classes at the end of the day for no more than 50 minutes a day. it's called sports pe.
