Wondering. Back in November thru January there were concerns about having enough officials to do all the football and basketball games during the upcoming spring. How did it work out? I know many schools were playing on Saturday instead of Friday. Did the officials do double duty? Were there any problems with games not having officials? Anyone have any info/

I can only speak for the southern half of the CCS but yes the games got covered. This was partially attributed to schools spreading out their games and some schools not fielding teams as well as very few, if any, lower level games. The officiating shortage is real- it is incumbent on all of us to seek out and encourage younger former players etc. to get involved. There is a large population of older officials nearing "retirement" with very few left to fill the void. If you are attending games- especially at the lower level- and witness fans ripping the officials- do what you can to prevent it. The fallout rate for young officials is staggering due to fan abuse.

In Southern California in some places they played 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday games, along with Thursday and Friday night. Depended upon what league you were in.
