Pittsburg 34 vs 24 Vacaville FINAL

Wow Pittsburg has one of the best high school bands I've seen.
What makes the band one of the best, DannyDozenKings? You feeling good about 2nd half for yer Vacavillians? Ten points not that much of cushion. Muds

I'm not feeling good we are loosing. I say they have one of the best bands because its the truth, they put on a nice performance at halftime.

The Pitt band is world class and has performed at Queen Elizabeth's bday a couple of years back. This year they've again clinched the Walnut Creek "The Nut" trophy for best band in their 2015 Twilight festival. Their entertainment tonite to the delight of Vacaville and Pitt fans was the SuperMario theme song which they performed at Walnut Creek last Saturday. Great band and great win for Pitt 34 vs Vacaville 24.

These two teams haven't played each other since I could remember( unless they did much much earlier). So it was a good matchup of two powerhouses. I remember two years or so back when Vaca was really strong and beat Granite Bay, and posters here were touting a Pitt-Vaca matchup. Well today it happened and I hope it does each year or so going forward. I was actually impressed with Vaca and they really made Pittsburg nervous in the 1st half as they scored first with a FG and then a touchdown. The Bulldogs speed was phenomenal, the QB was quick to the draw and the line having similar play strategies as DLS. They move forward right away after the snap and many times caught Pitt unawares and they do these trick plays where the runners come from left and right and center---and they at times achieve good yardage towards the right (always) with their speedy RB, and the QB can run. And boy have the got huge lines. The Pitt D, however, stepped up and many times keep them where they started, didn't move the ball very far at all except for a few times. They got tricked by Pitt in the last 3 or 4 minutes of the 4th when Pitt started blitzing the QB 4 times and they turned over on downs at the last 2 mins---score was already at 34-24. I think Vaca this year is not that strong but despite that, they scared Pitt in the beginning. Pitt's QB was not doing well with the throws and was slow to the draw. The offense were many times not in sync but Pitt's runners were good eventually as they find holes in the center as well as on the sides. Those runs killed the Bulldogs real good in the end. Vaca seems to have a good program too--their JV beat Pitt, 28-7, so we should expect a really good revenge match next year if they meet again at varsity.

Wow excellent game summary. Just as your Pittsburg band, that Super Mario song was great. Its nice that this match-up happened, by the way the tri-tip sandwich was also great!

One more thing I forgot, remember Pitt's #15 A'jae Boyd who got injured in the Monte Vista game where he got sandwiched bad by two MV big guys and was unable to get up for 15 mins- well he's back strong as ever and did great catches for Pitt. Jordan Parker #2 who got a right foot or ankle injury earlier is now back 100% making good catches. And, Charlie Ramirez #23 once again did really good tackling to stop the speed runs of the Bulldogs, and the D overall did a great job stopping Vaca---the latter couldn't move the ball forward that much except on very few occasions in their TD runs. So, I guess Pitt is back in action, but still has to smoothen their synchrnization with the QB needing more speedy ball handling and release- Vaca could read their plays at times.

Vacaville is down from past years, but still will be a tough out in league play and in the playoffs. Good bounce back for Pittsburg after losing to Monte Vista two weeks ago

Oh yes, it's the halftime entertainment by the Pitt Marching Show Band and the food that beats the best in Pitt football always. Many fans of opposing teams have posted testimonials to that effect including the DLS fans when they play at Pitt stadium; I didn't see the Mecca burritos tonite but y'all should try that too.

Went to the Vacaville against Pitt game and there was some awesome hitting in that game! Vacaville is going to be very strong next year. A lot of juniors and a Freshman running back got a lot of action. Pitt's offense looked very mediocre. They have to get it together or Freedom and Liberty will be serious trouble. The defense looked good and Charlie Ramirez was every where again. Parker hadthat single wide out covered all night but it was the power sweep that gave the Pitt defensive backs serious trouble.

As a Vacaville homer I am satisfied with the loss. Not a blow out too. I have been wanting to see this match up for years. These 2 teams last met in the 60's I believe...cant remember if they met in the 70's. I hope this will be an on going Inter Sectional Rivalry Game Series. A quality win for either team. Thanks for the updates!

Satisfied with the loss? Man sounds like the mighty Vacaville Bulldogs have left little hope for their fans. Lol, They will probably have to settle for third in MEL as Wood looks primed to win out and Napa seems to have vacavilles # lately. Question is can Napa upset the mighty Wood Wildcats. MEL looks to be Woods House for 2015. Will they be a 1 year wonder or are they going to stay on top of the MEL for years to come?

Wood will be a one hit wonder. They have nothing coming up after this senior class graduates this year.

I also look for Napa to be a tougher opponent than Wood has faced all year. Napa will slow the offense down greatly

I gotta agree. Wood needs a more better Defense. I believe Wood has a Jr. Youth Team now. So they are preparing for the future. I am wondering about Vacaville. They are averaging 4 Losses a year for the past 4 years?

Napa will definitely try and run the ball to keep it away from Wood's offense, this was the same thought process Freedom used to some success against Wood. Wood had five possessions in the first half against Freedom and scored touchdowns on all five; but Freedom was the first team all year to keep Wood from scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter by only allowing two possessions. This will be a battle of "Wills" and I do believe "Will C. Wood" will ultimately win.

I too believe Wood will win out on the season, that being said I'm not so sure Napas game plan won't revolve around their belief they will dominate the trenches on both sides of the ball and expose Woods Achilles heel. Napa's game plan won't deviate from their normal attack on offense. Win or loose Napa's run to pass ratio will be the same as previous games as I believe they do not see Woods Defense as an obstacle. They will make most of their adjustments on defense to slow Woods scoring spree. Wood will ultimately win this one 38-32 and run the MEL.

Wood is hungry to win MEL period and desperate to beat Vacaville in the black and Blue Bowl. Reality is Wood will make play offs and only then be tested look for a deep run into playoffs sans injuries. Napa will also make play offs and push into at least 2nd round. That being said when Wood wins MEL they will be doomed if they get pushed to D1 in play offs as they may be in over their heads.

Thanks for the Info Polemic. How does Wood Line fair against Napa's? A Physical Team vs. a Speedy Team. Napa had that great win over Campo....tia

Wood will struggle in the trenches I fear. Good news is running spread zone Oregon type offense even when Napa is right the Lewis brothers will make them wrong exceptional running backs. Napas o-line will punish the Wood it will fall on the Lbs and secondary to make tackles. I just dont see Napas secondary able to shut down the Wood receiving core. I think Napa will march long drives to get answered with quick Wood scores. I think it will stay close till mid 3rd quarter when Wood takes control and wins by 6-10 points. Turn overs could easily flip the table though. Wood wins MEL with a run of table 10-0 into play offs but IF D1 play off bracket loose in 2nd round maybe 3rd depending on seeding.
