Game is closer than the score indicates and been a fairly evenly played game with Serra having several big plays including a beautiful pass on the Padres first TD. Bells have had trouble running against Serra so far and most of their success has been on short passes. Serra has continually put pressure on Bells QB and sacked him several times. Serra gets the opening KO 2nd 1/2.

It always amuses me when someone says that the game was much closer than the score indicates. Don't get me wrong, I get it especially in some games. But it is a rather ambiguous statement. Is it meant to bolster the losing team's morale or to indicate the winning team really is even better than the score indicates? Simply here - in this game between the Padres and Bells, Serra is dominating!

I agree Addict at the end of the game with Serra up now by 41-7 that it was another Padre trouncing of the Bells. My post was earlier at the 1/2 when I thought the Bells had actually played better than what the score reflected - simple as that.

Serra: A blatant case of TMA (Too Many Athletes).. Too much team speed. Too much depth. Too much size in the OL. A very disappointing affair played in the windless San Mateo heat. Injuries to Mahasin (possible ACL tear) and Mahe, two of Serra's best players, were a downer. But the schedule is not unusually daunting until November. Bellarmine had no real answer for Serra's defense on obvious passing downs. Padres typically used only linebackers (perhaps a DE) and DBs (no interior lineman at all) much of the time. Pressure was unrelenting on passing downs. Bells were over-matched. Another surprise: Where were the Bellarmine students? Where was the oddball Bellarman? Where was the historic bell itself? On the 75th anniversary of this papal rivalry, much more was expected. It never materialized. Bummer.
