Serra vs Folsom thread

This has to be the biggest game in norcal and one of bigger ones in the state tnite at bulldog stadium. Folsom comes in 1-0 after a decent performance against a good Monterey Trail team. However, as we all know they lost there big Stanford TE commit for the year. First game of season for Serra with high hopes for another strong year.
Serra will bring ins bigger and more physical style but can they keep the big plays to a minimum against Folsom? Gotta make the QB for Folsom run. If he has time in the pocket he’s lights out. (Especially at 6”6)

i think Serra will control the line of scrimmage and that will ultimately dictate the winner. Serra will be a lot better than MT.

I like Serra 30-21 over Folsom.
 
I can't remember a September where almost all of the top teams match up and it starts tonight. I think Folsom wins with their passing attack and having a game already.

Yeah, agree, Serra not used to facing a high powered, sophisticated passing attack like Folsom. They are a traditional WCAL team, very much a line of scrimmage oriented style of play. They may control the LOS, but with Folsom's big play ability in the passing game it might not matter.They're going to have to keep Folsom's offense off the field, and they can't fall behind early
 
Folsom can put up points easily. The big play ability would scare me if I had to prepare. Serra can’t let Rico go nuts.

These kids all play so much and have so many camps , practices, etc now. Preparation is amazing as well. I don’t know how much that matters having had Folsom play a real game last week vs Serra scrimmaging. I guess we shall see.

I think it matters some early in the season. A team is just a little more conscious of what to expect, game reps versus practice reps.Refs calling real penalties, timing of plays. After 3 games I think a team starts to find out who they are, per se

Serra faced the ultimate high powered offense in MD in last year's Title game. They will be ready and so will Folsom. Should be a great game!

Yeah, they played MD last year in the Title game. But I don't think that will be a factor tonight.It's game 1 of a new season.
 
Serra has an absolute huge team in number of players and size of these kids. Not sure Folsom will face anything like this. There QB throws darts.

Serra had a decent drive going, then tried to get a little cute. Thought they didn't need to try a flea flicker right then

Yeah. They can chew up yards on ground. There line is moving Folsom. But this is there game in terms of clock management. This is how they want to control.
0-0 with 236 left
 
Folsom looks sloppy. 4 motion penalties. They clean that up and they can punch one of these in.
 
And for the record. Throw out nonsense about Serra first game. They’ve looked crisp from the start.
 
How is there no announcers, score, down and distance or clock for this big of a game? Small time folsom

Small time is playing in someone's backyard on a Sat, on a field with no lights.

NFHS is broadcasting the game and it's bare bones. Had nothing to do with Folsom. If you ever came and watched a real game, on a real field, against elite competition, you would hear a local announcer and see a real scoreboard.

Folsom is moving the ball at will but hasn't gotten many of the big plays. Critical fumble in the red zone earlier. Brutal.

Serra, to their credit, is no frills whatsoever but tough as nails. They've taken advantage of turnovers and played tough. They've gotten a few favorable calls, which they'll need in the second half. Great game.

Just broke a big run. Diff QB in.
 
Been saying it all week! Nobody wants to listen. Fosom d line has major weaknesses. This is how you win.
