Another huge week for the SFL. Some awesome matchups that will have implications on league and playoff seeding. Thoughts? Predictions?

Whitney @ Oak Ridge
Granite Bay @ Rocklin
Del Oro @ Folsom

Going with …

Oak Ridge
Granite Bay
Del Oro 😝 by 3 TD’s

Del Oro pulls off the shocker and capitalizes with 2 INTs vs former teammate Mack. 😉

No real surprises last week although the GB game was way too close for OR. They should have won by 2 scores.

oak ridge 35
Whitney 7

homecoming for OR. They win easy.

granite bay 21
rocklin 14

GB wins a grinder and avoids 0-3 start.

Folsom and DO. Biggest game in norcal? Can’t recall a bigger game for DO in recent memory.

I think DO is too good not to play this game close for 2-3 Qtrs. They’ve played a solid schedule and have faced all kinds of talent. Folsom is at home and they will be motivated to make a strong statement that nobody is beating them in sfl. Mack goes against his former buddies at DO so lots of emotions. Pinnick will make plays with his feet and DO has some good team speed.

I say this is close going into 4th. Folsom pulls away 28-21

I’m not missing this game.

Del Oro's schedule looks amazing if it was 2018 or 2019. Imo (looking at their schedule) they haven't played a team w/offense that prepares them for Folsom (FWIW who does). Close game for a half, much like the OR/Folsom game w/Folsom pulling away in the 2nd half and winning by 3+ scores. I'm rooting for D.O. though.

DO is playing well. I was at the Rocklin DO game. As you well know that game came down to 3-4 plays of Rocklin secondary becoming completely lost in the secondary on scramble plays. Folsom is loaded with DBs and should not have that problem. What was also a bit concerning was the run game on both sides for DO in that game. They could not run the ball on the Rocklin D and could not stop the run of the Rocklin O. You got to think Folsom is licking their chops at that film. I hope it is close but can see it being a 3-4 score Folsom win when’s it’s all said and done.

I think Oak Ridge has a bit of a statement game and could see them not just thumping Whitney but 3- 4 scores maybe that 28 point spread LL has above looks right to me.

As far as DO, I don't think this game will be close. Despite outstanding QB play, the improv show won't work against Folsoms secondary. Their best chance is to go back to the lab on the run game and try to chew clock, keep Folsom off the field, and see if they can exploit a breakdown in coverage later in the game. Tall order for anyone.

Granite Bay wins if they score 21, doubtful when your tool chest is a hammer and everything's a nail (run game). Rocklins run defense is really good so I just don't see them yielding a ton of yards on the ground on homecoming. Conversely, if GB can stall the run for the Thunder, it seems Rocklin can't score in the air this year. If you like ground and pound and discipline defense, this is a fun one to watch.

Guys like Pinnick are so hard to contain though. You see him on film and realize in person he’s a step or 2 faster and arm a little more lively. I think he creates problems for Folsom but they don’t have enough horses overall.

Oak Ridge - OR should dominate
Granite Bay - this will be the closest game of the three games IMO. Rocklin has been gaining strength lately and Granite Bay just suffered 2 back to back losses. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rocklin won but I will say GB wins this one.
Folsom - I know there some people that believe Del Oro has a real chance to upset Folsom. Of course, that is a possibility but a remote one IMO. Folsom dominates.

Del Oro will compete early.

Folsom will slowly start to dominate, similar to SlowRidge.

Folsom by 3 scores.

So the next best opponent outside of Oak Ridge in your opinion is going to lose by 3 scores. That’s the most competitive league in nor cal. Oh sorry I meant Slow Ridge. Which once again shows you lack of respect for kids doing it on the field

It just means Folsom is that much better.

There simply isn't another league in NorCal that SNIFFS the SFL in terms of overall quality. Not even close.

:)

Honestly, just stop responding to people like that. They get bored and move on. Interacting with people like that only gives them juice.
I agree Streak. But you should also not allow people to take hits on kids and coaches coaching kids as well. That’s garbage in my book. Just my two cents.

I think Oak Ridge rolls past Whitney.

Most competitive game of the week is Rocklin-Granite Bay. I think Rocklin gets them as the home team.

Normally I would say Folsom shouldn't have problems with Del Oro, but two things that make me pause are how Del Oro defended Menlo-Atherton (different teams, but M-A had some weapons and speed) and the playmaking of Caden Pinnick at QB. I'd still go with Folsom though

Main difference with Folsom is defense. Night and day vs. MA.

As I stated earlier, Del Oro will have some early success, especially with the QB and his feet. But the slow take over will start in the 3rd quarter.

Streak you are wise man. I was at MA game and shared similar thoughts. A couple old timer DO fans told me they thought this was one of DO more athletic teams.

I preface this with no insight but rather a 10,000 foot lingering thought on DO. I noticed alot of 3rd quarter play stoppage, for guys in that physical Rocklin game. My hope is they come in with full health for Folsom but a few of their trench guys do go both ways.

Not sure with Folsom blowing the doors off teams they have had to rely on their depth with two way players, out of necessity. I havent watched much tape yet. Of course, Folsom could have Injuries. That's stuff is easy enough to asses frome tape to turf on the fly.

Re-establish the run DO, best of luck!

There was one play I recall that was like a video game, pinnick rolling right to the boundary on a 3rd and long up 7. He spins out of a sack, poised all the way to the sideline and finds a receiver on a jail break working back, throws an 18 yard dart. I think he might be a southpaw as well. Impressive play.

SFL recap

oak ridge was dominant in there homecoming over Whitney 55-7. The consensus was this wouldn’t be close and the score was even more of a blowout than most of us thought. OR secondary is really beat up though. Could be a problem come Play-off time.

rocklin with a 21-14 win at home! I had the scores flipped on this one. Shame on me. I didn’t think GB would drop to 0-3 but it’s a war in the SFL. Hats off to the thunder for getting a big win at home! Next week at OR which could be for 2nd place .

Folsom rolls 34-7 over DO on 100th anniversary of Folsom HS. Great crowd last night and atmosphere in anticipation of what turned out to be a pretty boring game. Folsom took charge early and never looked really threatened. It was 21-7 at half and DO got ball to start 2nd. They needed to score on opening drive but couldn’t. DO made some adj on D in the 2nd qtr and put pressure on Mack but that was one of a few bright spots. Folsom dominated in 2nd half and the rest is history.
DO needs to regroup because SFL is a war.
From what I’ve seen I think league ends like this
Folsom
OR
DO
Rocklin
GB
Whitney

Oak Ridge statement game
Del Oro not close
