SHP 35, Riordan 7

SHP with the convincing win against the upstart Crusaders. Gator run game gashed Riordan. Freshman Mike Mitchell Jr received his welcome to high level HS football. 3 turnovers stalled drives and SHP answered with TDs. Riordan offense moved the ball but the turnovers spelled doom. Time to regroup as the WCAL gauntlet starts next week on the hill at Valley Christian.

Riordan's first head-scratcher came on SHP's first score. Two very good defensive snaps in a row put SHP in a 3rd and Goal from something like the 15-18 yard line I believe. The DBs were playing press by the line instead of sagging back to the end zone. SHP threw over the top because there was no safety back there. The right play would have been to play back and let SHP get whatever underneath and force a 4th down.

Mitchell and his receivers just were not on the same page all game. Throws minus the INTs looked good. Other than that the team just looked not locked in. Must have been a really good friday night!

The WCAL will be a mad scramble in 2022. With one very obvious exception. The struggle for everything below the San Mateo No.1 unit should be fierce. SF gets the first crack at the Padres Friday in Mountain View. Let's see if the Lancers can make things difficult for the top-ranked visitors. Do they have a reasonable shot? Comparative scores and the two rosters say no. We'll see.

One more time: No Serra varsity has gone 10-0 during the regular season since the program began in 1946. Just a thought.

Silicon Valley school that charges $50k a year for tuition beat the SF school pretty easy. I wonder how many of the kids dads work tech or vc. I wish I was born with the silver spoon, but down here in the IE we're working class or first generation Americans.

Welp, the donor name for SHP’s field, Palatella, was taken down as the donor family was involved in the the college admissions scandal that included celebrities in SoCal a few years ago,

I need you to fill me in why ARHS Stats took his talents to St. Francis. You can drop the bag for all these stud athletes the past 5 years but not retain a school legend? Something is not right here.
