Tight and physical game. Pinewood actually took the lead late, but had a couple of uncharacteristic turnovers and could not find the range from deep.

Major props to SI for playing a disciplined game on both ends.

A very interesting result. And with Salesian taking down Centennial of Nevada, it's a little more crowded at the top of the NorCal pack.

Of course, the Mitty-Salesian game could tell us a lot.

Centennial NV seems to lack discipline. I won't say they are poorly coached because sometimes players of that caliber just don't listen. But somehow every year they are ranked in the the preseason top 25. Props to Salesian for exposing them.

Centennial usually finishes in the top 25 at the end of the season as well.

Karen Weitz is a great coach. What she has done at centennial and the way she has done it is nothing less than impressive. Gets her kids to play extremely hard and with purpose. They are a team that is shooting for March/April and not early December. They'll be ok

That's why I said I don't wanna say they are poorly coached but in the game with Salesian they just didn't seem disciplined and relied too much on individual talent. That is also why I said players of that caliber often don't listen so I don't wanna blame it on the coach. I never said anything about their coach being a bad coach if you read it back. But you all are so quick to jump to the defense of a Nevada coach but I'm sure Sopak, Phillips, McKord and Moreno wouldnt mind having that same type of support from the girls basketball lovers in their own region let alone another state.

She doesn't need our support.. she's accomplished far more than those you listed with the exception of Sue. Track record speaks for itself

Centennial NV will be right back in it I'm sure. I don't know too much about Nevada so maybe you can help me @OnBall8
Who are 3 other power house teams from that state outside of Centennial NV? What's the comp like there? I know California the Open division champ changes every year. Was curious about the state of Nevada.

Spring Valley is pretty good this year, but appears the northern half is down. Generally there are two or three good teams in the Las Vegas area, and couple near or in Reno. This year, though, Centennial may be the lone ranger ...

I know Centennial is loaded with talent and will bounce back. I remember they dropped some games early in 2019-20 season but then went all the way to Atlanta and knocked off a high ranked Westlake. I guess my point had more to do with how difficult it is to coach talented players than people think. A lot of times when you watch a game and wonder what the heck the players are doing their coach is also wondering the same thing.

i am biased but from the LV bulldogs aau team to the centennial bulldogs there isnt a parent that would agree with that statement about her coaching. she squeezes every ounce out of her players. kids are lined up to play there. but i interpreted your statement wrong. my bad. i also understand sometimes coaching too much talent can be an issue too.

yup same as the ankle assassin.. I guess I misinterpreted your statement.

I was going to mention Spring Valley like clay. I don't know a ton about NV basketball at the moment, but I know its no walk in the park to win a state title there and Centennial has won many under Karen.
