Riordan FG after SI fumble. . Riordan 11-0. 5:57 in 1st

You were smarter than me master Jedi. I posted the update on Rembr26s WCAL thread lol. I'll let you do the honors so I can keep my keyboard clean and have my popcorn! Lol

Pick 6 by SI. And the SI play by play announcer turns high pitched. Missed PAT, 11-6 2:24 left. Maybe Fordon is onto something with 2s LOL

SI pick 6. PAT no good. 11-6 Riordan. 2:24 left in 1st. Put the trench mob to use and run the ball!!!
Crusaders are playing flat.

Luavasa 2nd TD off read option up the gut. 2 pt good. 19-6 Riordan 1:06 left in 1st

19-6. Luavasa doing his best Kaepernick impersonation circa 2012 with the read option. 2nd TD of the day.

SI TD by Butler. PAT blocked. 19-12 Riordan. 11:50 left in half

Your right. Lethargic on D. Gotta make an adjustment when they see Tharp(sp?) lined outside for the fly sweep.

19-19. When are they going to adjust to the fly sweep????? Good lord. 8:01 to go in the 2nd.

SI TD . Game tied @ 19. Crusaders can't stop the fly sweeps. Caston still not on D. Only special teams

Aidan Verba-Hamilton 70 yard KO return. 2 pt conv no good. 25-19 Riordan. 7:49 left in half

Any insight why? These missed 2 point conversions are driving me crazy especially with a good kicker! 25-19 8 to go. Here we go again....

86 yard TD pass to Daniel Norman. 2 pt no good AGAIN! 31-19 Riordan

No idea. Heard he was limited last week as well. I've come to the conclusion that Coach Fordon is coaching this season like we use to play video games and going for 2 after every TD. I cant justify any other reason why lol offense is nice to watch, but geeze we gotta adjust to the fly sweep at some point!

Luavasa doing his best (current lol!) Kapernick impression with his 3rd pick. 58 secs left in half

Read option please. We want the Kaepernick circa 2012 not the 2015 version.

31-19 Riordan at half. Riordan is playing uninspired, flat and sloppy . SI should not even be close in this game. Not playing like a title contending team right now. Would be interested to know what Fordon is telling his team right now.

Playing to the level of their competition. Not an excuse, but what it looks like.

Fundamentally they look horrible since the last time I saw them play live at Mitty.

Aidan 70+ yard TD reception . Pat good. Shock! Lol! 38-19 Riordan 6:08 left in 3rd

80+ yrd pass to AVH but the big news is Riordan KICKS THE PAT!!!! What a concept!!!! 1 point for kicking. No pass routes no zone blocking. 38-19.

69 yard pick 6 by Crusader's Daniel Norman. PAT good. 45-19 Riordan 4:59 left in 3rd qtr

Pick 6, Norman I think. 45-19 now. Riordan in the open field
vs SI makes SI look like they're running in quicksand. Looks like theyve finally made adjustments to the fly sweep.

AND yet ANOTHER PAT! What a concept. Maybe Fordon feels as if he's pouring it on going for 2 in the 2nd half lol. Im old school I like the easier PAT in contrast to a well earned 2 pt conversion.

45-19 Riordan Final. Crusaders take home the inaugural Gil Haskell plaque.

Clearly disappointed with the Crusaders
subpar play today. In any other year a blowout over the Cherries would be reveled in for the rest of year, but not this year. Thats the bar this team set when they got off to such a good start. Those explosive plays are nice vs a mediocre team, but a team that is disciplined on D and can score as well calls for sustained drives than ends in TDs not turnovers. We'll see. For now they can revel in the Gil Haskel trophy. I didnt even know there was such a thing till the Cherry announcing team brought it up! LOL Bring back the Doc Erskine trophy ;)

Crusaders need to clean up their overall play - poor execution, turnovers and unnecessary penalties. VC will blow them out on the hilltop next Fri night if their play does not improve.

AGREED! Pretty much texted the same msg to RGael right now. Poor execution. Poor fundamentals. And the boneheaded penalties. Was really hard to watch today and would need to do some convincing to those who were watching them the first time that they are tied for first. Its like they need to go back to two a days n back to basics. They looked like a REALLY good City team today, not like a REALLY hood football team as they have previously been portrayed. I'll take it though as a WCAL win should never be taken for granted on Phelan. That said, I hope they DO play to the level of their competition next week. Go Rabbits!

You are right, the bar has been set high this season. They actually looked great in losing to the Bells compared to today's effort.

Very helpful in giving details....i hste doing updates. I am too busy catch the flavor of the environment to get back to my smart phone.

Ugly game, but halftime adjust perfect. I did notice every assist coach Boyce was strained.

This is S perfect game for the crusaders thus week. Players, Coaches and finds were humbled and will get back on track next week. Was SI over looked maybe, but good teams win ugly games and practice will be better.

Down to SJ for the second to the last show down of the year...

We Are One...We R Riordan

Watching the game highlights and Riordan did execute quite well on many plays - particularly Luavasa's 82 yard read option TD run to start the scoring. SI D really sold out on the run and overcommited, leaving Jacky a clear path along the left sideline. Luavasa's long TD passes to AV-H and Daniel Norman were also on the money, hitting them in stride. Best plays of the day were AV-H's KO TD return and Daniel Norman's 69 yard pick 6. He ran 100+yards from his zigging and zagging for his score. The impressive part of the pick is that it was tipped by McAfee 30 yards downfield and Norman somehow caught it and was able to reverse the field and do his thing.
Need to enjoy this season as there has been some remarkable games played. Friday Night Lights at VC next week should be a great matchup of top tier teams with talented players. The opportunity to remain in the WCAL title hunt remains for both the Valley Christian Warriors and Riordan. Keep it up Crusaders!
