Salesian jumped out early..up 17 in 1st...
SMS made a big run late to cut it to 5 with 25 secs left but that was as close as they came. Late ft's made it 9 at the end.

General thoughts. Had to mute audio parents are as obnoxious as it gets. Officiating a game like that would be my worst nightmare. There is a foul on every single possession. Both teams have incredible athletes and it’s just full court press the entire game. I didn’t see Salesian big girl but idk how she plays in that style of a game effectively. That ball pressure by both teams is Intense. If you don’t have elite guard play you’ll get smothered by both teams. Open teams based on Athleticism alone idk very many teams that can handle that. Mitty can because they have two elite guards and matchup athletically. Game was gross but two elite teams.
Disregarding what happened at Oakland Tech and its possible affects on St. Mary's play against Salesian:

Salesian lost to Folsom, on Wednesday, 1/26
On paper, that "could" elevate Folsom ahead of Salesian and St. Mary's in the NorCal and CalHi Sports rankings, until the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs conclude, with a potential Folsom vs. St. Mary's match up.
However, both Salesian and St. Mary's have played a more difficult schedule than Folsom.

St. Mary’s thought they were coming to Oakland Tech for an easy win. The game was very competitive and if Oakland tech doesn’t give up open 3’s they win easily. Good win for Salesian bouncing back after losing to Folsom.

I was wondering the same thing...whether it was repercussions from the Oak Tech game or possible Covid issues.
Does anybody know? Did SMS have all their players?
if the fight happened as described. all players left the bench, players swinging. suspensions should have been in play
I know Jordan Lee, Perry and Anderson played.

One of the posts stated that the SMS players stsyed on the bench during the melee. I didn't see the video so hard to say if that's accurate
I was lucky enough to view the video before it was pulled and it was something I noticed also. SMS players stayed on the bench and at least 3 of the SMS players who were on the court actually turned and walked off the court as the chaos ensued.
Only one player I heard was missing and it was not a min factor player.I know Jordan Lee, Perry and Anderson played.
This will be the most wide open Open Division we have had.

Good job Salesian. Open division will be interesting this year.
I was there and saw the video. The SMS players stood at their bench and watched everything unfold. OT bench cleared.
Sorry if this is random but what happened to Tai Sherman? Was looking at SMS team picture and didn’t see her in it.
