I’ll be attending this game tomorrow night.

Rocklin is the #1 ranked team in the section, but St. Mary’s is seemingly always a top 5 program and always a threat.

These teams have met only once previously back during the 2014 postseason in Stockton and the Rams won convincingly.

Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are about this matchup and if anyone else is planning on attending?

Are you aware of anyone who consistently tweets or posts scores for either team? This will be an interesting game to track. Twitter is the best for quick score updates, so if you have a trusted poster, pass them on please. @MustangsVox will be doing the MT@EG game on Twitter.

To answer your question--the word on the street for 2021 in the SJS is that there is Rocklin and then everyone else. My personal opinion isn't worth much, so take it for what it's worth. I would be moderately shocked if Rocklin loses before the Regional game. Rocklin has superior lines and very good play in the secondary. Obviously, those two things feed off each other. They just don't have to take too may chances on offense to win by multiple touchdowns.

After that, every other match up in D1 and D2 is pretty much a toss up. I'm not saying they will all be tight contests--just that there is a strong argument for either team winning BEFORE the game is played. Folsom did get some new shoes for Saturday at Jesuit, so that game will be more on equal footing (pun intended).

That will be a game I'll be keeping an eye on. Great matchup. I'll be at DLS/ Pittsburg. Wish I could be at this one too.

rockin best defense in norcal. They don’t need to score much to win . I don’t see this changing.

Rocklin will win by 3 TD. Manteca is at a significant advantage with Lincoln having some major injuries. Patterson may give Oakdale a run for their money due to size and ability to pass.
Manteca got back #20. That's a big deal. Patterson has Oakdale's kryptonite speed! Should be a good game. I will be there!

See you there TR!
Awlright you two, remember:
1) Easy on the caffeinated drinks, 1 Redbull/Rockstar per Qtr
2) Shirts on till the 4th (nipples hard enough to etch on glass says it's too cold)
3) Face paint,...team colors only please, satanic themes prohibited by the CIF.
4) Easy on the Zebras/Ref criticism AND remember mooning obvious bad calls will result in ejection from school premises.

Have a good time you 2 graybeards. May the best team win.

I believe St. Mary's offense and speed will present a challenge for Rocklin's defense, so long as the starting QB is in the game. Much focus may be on senior #2 Jadyn Marshall, but look out for juniors #4 Jason Calvin and #5 Naseri Danielson, along with sophomore #21 Asante Carter. DLS's defense was challenged in the first half when QB #10 Cruz Hererra was in the game and the Rams were able to move the ball down 16-17 at halftime with actually an opportunity to go into the locker room with the lead if not for an INT in the endzone. When Hererra was out of the game, there was no aerial threat and DLS ran away 35-0 in the 2nd half. Likewise, Central Catholic was able to defeat St. Mary's quite easily without Hererra playing (no aerial threat and just pack the box). #4 Jason Calvin is only 5'7" and 135 lbs but he is one tough player (likes to hit) and he is very quick.

I do believe Rocklin's line on both sides will be tough for the Rams to deal with and the Rams will need the bad weather and TO's by the Thunder to stay in this game. As much as I would love for my Rams to pull off the upset, I see the Thunder winning by 2 TD's. I do believe a game between Rocklin and DLS will be a good one.

BTW, my projecting the Thunder will win by 2 TD's probably really means it will be by 3 to 4 TD's, maybe more. Just looking at the scores posted for Rocklin's season, their defense must be something special. Although I have some hope for the Rams to put points on the board, it appears to be very, very difficult. Miracles do happen, though. Just ask the Lincoln Trojans. LOL.

GO RAMS!!!

Rocklin better not sleep on SM. They've got threats all over the field. Rams a very dangerous. I'm an NCS guy but St Mary's is one of my favorite programs. Great respect for SM, they'll play anybody any time. Go Rams!!!

rockin best defense in norcal.

I’d like to agree with you. Actually, it’s more like I’m fearful to agree with you.

Rocklin is surrendering something like 5 ppg this season. But they haven‘t faced many opponents like St. Mary’s or coaches like Tony Franks.

While I believe Rocklin should win convincingly, I’m not convinced that is what will happen.

I suppose I just have a lot of respect for the Rams program.

Rocklin’s been punched in the mouth. 14-0 St. Mary’s.

Thunder still without an offensive play.

#21 Anthony Johnston with a 13-yard TD and subsequent XP narrows the score to 14-10.

11:14 Q2.

St Mary’s up at halftime 28-17. Rocklin receives the KO to start the 2nd half.

#10 Cruz Herrera with the ultimate no no of throwing late across the field but it worked out for another Rams TD.

SM leads at half 28-17. Rocklin to receive the 2nd half kick.

Rocklin’s isn’t tackling well on defense or on ST’s and are allowing big plays because of it.

Marshall and Calvin are causing issues with their speed.

St. Mary’s is winning the war of the lines when on offense as Rocklin’s defense is getting no pressure and the Rams run game is succeeding.

Rocklin is moving the ball well offensively and also winning the war of the lines on that side of the ball. The issue was spotting SM’s a 14-0 lead.

Rocklin’s first drive stalled around the SM 40. Crowd thought there was an obvious hold by the DB on the 3rd down pass into the endzone but no flag.

After a SM 1st down Rocklin forces Jadyn Marshall into a sideline fumble which was returned for a TD by #5 Derek Houston.

SM’s 28, Rocklin 24
8:49 Q3

Issue now for St Mary’s is getting the ball stripped out of their hands (2nd time). Rocklin takes the ball out of Marshall’s hands and runs it for a TD after being stopped on downs. SM 28 Rocklin 24 beginning of the 3rd.

Rocklin D toughens up. St Mary’s forced to punt. Rocklin in position to take the lead. Like I said, lots of football left.

#16 Roberts with an 89-yard TD pass to #17 Nathan Kent.

XP missed.

Rocklin leads 30-28.

A questionable unsportsmanlike penalty called on Rocklin on 4th and long keeps SM’s drive alive.

SM’s capitalizes with a 13-yd TD run by #21 Asante Carter puts the Rams back in the lead.

SM 35, Rocklin 30

3:50 Q3

#16 Roberts with a 1yd QB sneak followed by #21 Anthony Johnston converting the 2 pt conversion giving Rocklin back the lead.

Rocklin 38, SM 35

:49.9 Q3
