Some important Sac-Joaquin Section league games this week that will eventually decide league champion and very important for SJS playoff seeding. SJS tends to give a lot of weight to league champions and place in league, in their section playoff seedings.

Monday, 1/28 (tonight):
19-5 Cosumnes Oaks at 19-4 Bear Creek (a non-league game, critical if Bear Creek stays in D1)

Tuesday, 1/29:
16-7 (7-0) Sacramento at 19-5 (7-1) Vista Del Lago - for the CAL champ.
19-4 (6-0) Bear Creek at 15-9 (5-1) Edison - for the SJA champ.
16-7 (7-2) Woodcreek at 22-2 (9-0) Antelope - Antelope will win league, but game important for Woodcreek to stay #2 in CVC league.
16-8 (7-1) El Capitan at 17-6 (6-1) Atwater- for the CCC champ.
20-3 (8-0) McClatchy at 22-2 (7-1) Laguna Creek - for the Metro league champ.

Wednesday, 1/30:
19-5 Del Oro at 15-7 Oak Ridge - for Oak Ridge to stay #2 in the SFL

Thursday, 1/31:
16-7 Salesian at 16-6 St. Mary's Stockton (a non-league game - for SMS' psyche)

Friday, 2/1:
16-6 Elk Grove at 18-6 Franklin (Elk Grove) - for Franklin to stay #2 in Delta
15-7 (4-2) Oak Ridge at 14-10 (4-2) Whitney - for #2 in the SFL

whitney is currenty in 2nd place. they have head to head win over oak ridge.

EG (D2)/franklin (D1) doesn't matter too much.. they both will make the playoffs, as the top 4 in the delta get the AQ. maybe for seeding.. but it's not like we are talking top 4 seeds. they both will be lower than 5 in their division

BC/CO tonite is crucial, i think winner gets top 4 seed (assuming CO can win out league)

Bear Creek appeared to easily beat Cosumnes Oaks last night 77-50. BC may end up getting a #4 seed or better in D1 in SJS. If they somehow drop down to D2, they could be a #3 seed or better. Watch out.

IF....BIG IF... Bear Creek ends up in D1 They SHOULD BE the #1 Seed. Wins vs #4 CO by 27 and #1 Folsom by 20 and If they go to D2 They should be the #1 Seed with the Head to Head win vs Antelope.

Yes, the 2 wins against Folsom and CO were huge as both are D1 opponents. Very impressive bounce back after the 2 losses last weekend to SJND and cardinal newman. So with the head to head wins, they should be seeded ahead of both by SJS committee in D1 playoffs I would think. Most likely seeded like this:
1. Bear Creek
2. Folsom
3. McClatchy
4. St Marys
This would set up two very good and very interesting semi-final games if these teams make it through!

Tuesday night, 1/29:
Sac High 65, Vista del Lago 36
(Impressive easy win for Sac. Sac High will eventually win league)

Antelope 66, Woodcreek 43
(Roseville can tie Woodcreek for #2 in league, they split against each other)

McClatchy 67, Laguna Creek 49
(McClatchy led 57-25 after 3Q - will eventually win league)

Bear Creek 73, Edison 40
(Impressive, easy win over Edison--Bear Creek will eventually win league)

Atwater 76, El Capitan 31
(19-6 Atwater had an easy win--will eventually win league)

cptmycpa, obviously you follow the SJS teams very closely. curious to know what your predictions would be for the D1 and D2 seedings of the top teams...

I'm not a coach, just a fan. But following SJS playoff seedings for the last four years, here's what I have seen by the SJS (which never makes much sense). The SJS playoff seeding committee appears to favor in this priority order:
1. League placement
2. head-to-head
3. common opponents within SJS teams
4. SJS geographic representation
5. MaxPreps rank

Based on above, my SJS Playoff Seeding Predictions:

D1
1. Bear Creek
2. Folsom
3. St. Mary's
4. McClatchy
The above seeding would also allow a semi-final game played in Stockton area and in Sacramento area, barring any upsets to that point.

D2
1. Antelope
2. Sac High
3. Whitney
4. Del Oro, Elk Grove or Atwater
Outside chance that Atwater gets #4 seed, only because SJS wants some "south of Sacramento area representation." I saw that in 2015-16 for D1, when 24-5 Golden Valley of Merced was a #5 seed ahead of #6 21-7 Lincoln of Stockton and #7 23-6 McClatchy.

D3
1. Vanden
2. Christian Brothers (Sacto.)
3. Kimball (Tracy)
4. Placer or Manteca
20-3 Kimball only has a SOS of 2.6, and #5 in Maxpreps for SJS D3, behind 16-7 Placer and 16-7 Manteca; but has head-to-head win over Manteca, overall record and geographic representation may play a factor.

Wow cptmycpa, very impressed. Appreciate all the back ground and explanation as well. Someone on the SJS Committee needs to hire you!

Now we just need the salgovernalisaturtle guy to break down the analytics/percentages/computerize each team's seeding for us. Maybe he has a better formula than Maxpreps, looks like he might have the time and the brains for that. LOL.

Wednesday, 1/30 results:
UPSET! - (16-8, 7-2) East Union 56, (20-4, 8-1) Kimball 54
This could affect Kimballs D3 seeding in SJS; Kimball plays at Manteca (16-7, 7-1) next Monday for league title.

Oak Ridge 38, Del Oro 33
D1 Oak Ridge stays #2 in league; 1/2 game ahead of D2 Whitney. Del Oro will have to use MaxPreps ranking to get into SJS playoffs.

Bear Creek (as of today) will be in D1; not D2.
Antelope will be happy.

Friday, 2/1 results:
Whitney does it again--beats Oak Ridge Friday evening 54-52 at Whitney; D2 Whitney sweeps D1 Oak Ridge.

Elk Grove beats Franklin 41-37, at Franklin. Elk Grove coming on strong now.

Folsom beats Granite Bay by only seven points, 57-50, at Folsom. 2nd half of Folsom's season not as solid as 1st half.

D2 Sacramento escapes with a win 41-38 over D3 Christian Brothers, at Sacramento. CBS peeking at the right time.

Bear Creek, Antelope & SM Stockton appear to be headed for open. I had Sac High above SMS but after SMS close loss to Salesian and Sac close win over CB I have flipped it
