City, Your comment has me scratching my head a bit in disbelief. Just getting the opportunity to play is more than enough. The overwhelming majority of kids only have four years of their lives to play regardless of whether their team is successful or not. I know even as an old guy I still remember the thrill and magic of playing under the lights and wouldn't trade it for anything.Sad.
I feel for the kids, particularly the seniors. As a coach, what can you say to them? Maybe that football isn't an end to itself and these losses build character as you become an adult. As a parent, what can you say to your son? Why would you want your son to risk an injury, for what? I am sure a few are holding their breathe til Nov.
That is one long trip from Valley Christian to the city. Too bad for SHC program the SI game is next week. What incentive will these kids have to compete after that game?
You and rabbit5 are both right. Now the games, more so with SI than Riordan are more like a party at the football and baseball games. Less so for basketball with two sets of 2300 people shouting at each other at USF.Yes...rabbit5....I think the missing element is now lots of kids go to SF schools and they do not live in the city for one. (mostly peninsula, and some marin, but mostly SI for marin) Secondly, the rivalries also revolve around a lot more things than just the boys' who attend the "trinity" schools now in SF.
