Washington went 6-6 in the first year under head coach Jedd Fisch and did some major work in Northern California with seven local signees in the 2025 class. All seven players were ranked in the Top 25 preseason rankings.

There was a major flip in the final week before the Early Signing Period as St. Ignatius offensive lineman John Mills (6-foot-6, 320 pounds) went from Texas to Washington. Mills could potentially slide inside in college, but he anchors the Wildcats’ line at tackle heading into this week’s NorCal bowl game against Central-Fresno. He is a physical run blocker with good feet who also is developed as a pass protector.

Joining him on the offensive line is Valley Christian’s Champ Taulealea (6-foot-4, 325 pounds) and Riordan’s Peter Langi (6-foot-6, 330 pounds). Both fit the road grader mold and are Top 15 overall prospects in NorCal for this cycle.

Moving out to the skill positions, Monte Vista running back Julian McMahan (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) was the first local commit as he came in March of 2024. McMahan is a big back who excels at using his patience, eying a cutback lane and getting downhill. He had 1,436 yards and 20 touchdowns, including a school record 307 yards in the playoff loss to Bishop O’Dowd.

McMahan’s final high school opponent will now be a future teammate in Bishop O’Dowd receiver Deji Ajose (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) showed his big play ability as a senior and finished with 12 touchdowns. Joining Ajose at wide receiver is Riordan’s Chris Lawson (6-foot-1, 175 pounds). Lawson had 38 receiving touchdowns over his four year varsity career at Foothill and Riordan with his run after the catch ability. Both players also have good defensive film too.

Finally, the lone recruited defensive player was Menlo-Atherton defensive end Devin Hyde (6-foot-5, 250 pounds). He is an athletic and long edge rusher with 13 sacks over the past two years. He was the PAL-Bay Defensive Player of the Year as a senior.
