The game of the week takes place on Friday night as Monte Vista visits Clayton Valley charter...Now CVC is 3-1 and their only loss was to Folsom 27-26, but look what they have done.....shut out tracy 35-0, shut out Cardinal Newman 28-0, but if Brookshire was healthy, this game might have been different...And then last week they polished off Logan 42-13.....Now Monte Vista is a different story....The eagles face a team with a very good QB and a strong line...Jake Haener is only a Jr.but has been red hot, so we will see how the Mustang's stack up against CVC.
Another game between Campolindo and Dougherty Valley should be a real test for the Wildcats to see if they are for real...Last week, Dublin would not quit and held the Cougars to a 14-10 win, so we will see if DV can stop Campolindo..

FREE LANCE
Logan 4-1 at Bishop O'Dowd 2-2.....Logan 28 Bishop O'Dowd 14.....The Colts had a rough time last week against the Eagles, but should get back on the winning trail against the Dragon's..
DLS 3-1 at Granite Bay 3-1.....DLS 41 Granite Bay 7....The Spartan's don't drop their guard for this game..

GAME OF INTEREST
McClymonds 4-0 at Piedmont 3-1.....Mc Clymonds 35 Piedmont 20...Mac is drawing from all over Oakland and put together another competitor and should have no problems with the Highlanders...

BVAL
Pittsburg 3-1 at Castlemont 3-1.....Pittsburg 56 Castlemont 13.......The Pirates don't have to face a serious battle this week, but its next week that they have to be ready for...
Deer Valley 2-2 at College Park 0-4. At DVC.....Deer Valley 38 College Park 19...One more tune-up game for the wolverines as next week starts league action and it won't be easy....

DFAL
Alhambra 3-2 at Acalanes 1-3.....Alhambra 26 Acalanes 20.....This game is up to the Bulldog defense as they have been giving up too many points and the Don's are rebuilding and could dump Alhambra...
Campolindo 4-1 at Dougherty Valley 5-0.....Campolindo 21 Dougherty Valley 17....The Wolverines have come of age for the 2015 campaign and now they must rise and try to stop the cougars as Dublin almost did it last week...
Las Lomas 1-4 at Miramonte 5-0.....Miramonte 49 Las Lomas 14...the Mat's don;t slow down for the Knights as Tim Tague and company rolls on....

DVAL
Monte vista 4-0 at Clayton valley charter 3-1.....CVC 42 Monte vista 28....For the first time, the eagles face a team with a very good QB.. Now for the Mustang's, the defense must bottle up Jackson and keep the QB on the run and therecould be a different out come..
Deer Valley 2-2 at College Park 0-4.....Deer Valley 38 College Park 19
Oakland 0-3 at Mt. Diablo 0-4.....Mt. diablo 27 Oakland 18.....the battle for two teams that have yet to win...The Red Devils dropped the last two games but put up the points, its time for Mt. Diablo to win....
Skyline 1-3 at Ygancio Valley 1-3.....Skyline 27 Ygancio Valley 20.....Don't know whats going in Warrior country but it looks like another loss..

EBAL
Monte Vista 4-0 at Clayton Valley charter 3-1.....CVC 42 Monte vista 28
Amador Valley 3-1 at Granada 3-2......Amador Valley 28 Granada 14..In EBAL league play, it hard to say who will win as on certain nights some teams have their number....
California 3-1 at Livermore 3-2.....California 41 Livermore 20.....the Cowboys had a real good preseason, but MV dumped them 48-17 in the league opener, now they face another challenge against the Grizzlies and it doesn't come any easier...
Foothill 5-0 at San Ramon 1-3....Foothill 38 San Ramon Valley 24...If Davison starts for the Wolves, the Falcons could have their work cut out for them....

Another great job Bluedog. I have to agree with pretty much all of your picks. We know Monte Vista has a potent passing attack, and with Bergman at the helm that is par for the course. But this will be a major test for the Mustang run defense, which has long been their achilles heel. If they can't stop Jackson it will be a long night. But it could also be another shootout like the 49-42 MV-Pitt game if Haener has a good night. Gotta be the game of the week.

I thought I read that Davidson would need to sit out the first 5 games. If so, I think Foothill will roll.
I'm not sure why Pitt is playing Castlemont. I could see them putting Mack on the schedule if they want to face an Oakland team, but this game will be over quickly.
CP in turmoil with Tenorio out and still looking for their first win. If they still had Ray Jackson who was a rising star there as a soph, I would take CP but Deer Valley should prevail.

Are you kidding Clayton is going to kill MV. CV will score on every possession and you are asking the QB to match that. If the MV QB is off it's over fast. Remember CV just about beat Folsom and would have if they had a kicker. Folsom would slaughter MV.

Calm down. Nobody said MV would win. Bluedog has it at 42-28 and I agreed with that. MV did put up 49 on Pitt, so 28 on CVC is not out of the question. I just don't see MV stopping Jackson. I don't know how good CVC's pass defense is, but we will find out. It is the game of the week as we will get to see just how good MV and/or CVC are. All odds favor CVC at this point.

observer22......I think this Friday nights game will be the Monte Vista-CVC game for me, the bletchers at CVC are very low and I like to get as high as I can to see every thing, I may wind up on the side line with the chain gang and do a play by play....I think some thing may happen....but on the other hand maybe not....

I see your point. When you have a good QB you have a chance. There's always a chance they could make it close but if both teams play to their potential I see a rout.

The reason Pitt is playing Castlemont is because of a late cancellation by Berkeley. Based on public commits, Pittsburg was upset with the circumstances,

I think CVC playing well against Folsom's passing game will help them in the matchup with Monte Vista

Got to take a play out of Phil Jackson's playbook and run the Triangle on D, jump into the passing lanes to slow down MV's QB. He likes those quick hitters, if you have athletes good at anticipating his throws could be pick 6's and Tuddys on "D". He is a good passer though and he has some weapons this year. I am anticipating a high scoring affair. Should be a fun and entertaining game.

Not to ruin anyones thunder but most recently I heard that Ray Jackson would be out for some considerable time due to grades. A rumor, but one I have heard from multiple sources including from his CP days. @bluedog, agree as usual and I may have to go visit the Campolindo game as that looks to be a good one

Seems awful early for grade issues already. But as a charter maybe they started earlier than most? Good luck to the kid. I hope he figures it all out.

Berkeley bailing on them at the last minute is a perfect explanation as to why Pitt is scheduling Castlemont. It was either play them or not play that week. Should be an opportunity for a lot of 2nd & 3rd stringers to get some game experience.

Beatenpath2.....If you go to the Campolindo game, give us a run down, Dougherty Valley just may surprise us. If I don't finish work in time, I will go to the Deer Valley-College Park game at DVC, getting to CVC on Clayton Valley blvd. is not an easy task....

Yeah not exactly sure yet, as my nephew is on Alhambra's JV team so I may watch that and go over to that game. We will see on where I end up but I will be able to give a run down regardless of where I go

Streak,
Folsom ran the ball a majority of the game against CVC. It was the first game of the year and the passing was sparse. That game was more of a defensive battle until the end.

Bold predictions that were wrong...foot in mouth. The MV QB must be that good.
Trivalley......When we can walk on water then we can get on the hot seat, DV looked good by all the wins and CVC looked more powerful, but they haven't faced a QB like Jake Haener....Haener was under the gun and could have completed more passes and could have turned the game completely around, but the CVC defense was relendless and a lot of his passes were rushed, plus a couple were dropped....And with out a running game it was up to the passing attack and again, it was CVC's defense that saved the day....
