Week 8: San Ramon Valley (5-0) at McClymonds (3-1)

1. San Ramon Valley quarterback Luke Baker is completing 73 percent of his passes and has three receivers with more than 300 yards (Gavin Jones, Trevor Scott and Zack Dodson). The junior Baker has 16 touchdowns to five interceptions.

2. McClymonds senior Jaivian Thomas is one of the top backs in the region and has rushed for 167 yards apiece against Bellarmine and Pittsburg. Overall, he is averaging 10 yards per carry. He has offers from Sacramento State, Northern Colorado, Idaho, Army and San Jose State.

3. McClymonds' last home loss came to Liberty in 2018. Overall, the Warriors are 44-5 since the 2018 season. San Ramon Valley has had just one losing season under head coach Aaron Becker with a high win total of nine in 2017 and 2018.

Intriguing matchup and kudos to both schools for making it happen. Firstly, VERY few EBAL schools have dropped down divisions at any point for the last 15 years. The primary reason being the Green Machine was on the schedule at least once and many years twice. Since the advent of the split EBAL (Mountain/Valley,) there was greater incentive for Valleys to go lower in their preseasons AND the need for more than 3 preseason contests. But SRV has long history of being top tier EBAL, as is the upper tier of the league (no matter what Sybil states about FolOakOroLagoBay.)

But Mack has been blowing up most schools NOT D1, and they seem to take on all comers, so this is a huge game for them.

If SRV wins, it'll cement the common perception/reality that EBAL big schools would dominate even the top 10 ranked smaller BA schools. If Mack pulls it out, that would be one of the rarest occurrences in a decade+ where A. EBAL (Mtn) schedules <D1 and 2. a <Div 1 school not only got on the EBAL big boys schedule, but prevailed .

It's also intriguing in that the SRV family whose QB son was unworthy of starting there as a Jr several years"transferred" to Mack with the false apartment address by Daddy. That blew up after a few games, deservedly so, and he was pedestrian at SRV as a Sr. His Ivy career seemed average.
