I’ve come to really enjoy the norcal games. But let’s be honest. I’m a sucker for any random non league football game too.

Although I would much rather have a state playoff system, the bowl games were a great addition to CA HSFB. The expansion into more games and the RBGs was a step forward. That being said, I still like the SBG games the best of all match ups.

I think the SBG games really motivated a higher level of HSFB in California.

Regional SBG play in games….. For the kids to play to win their Division and be a Nor Cal Champ and have the honor to Rep Nor Cal in The SBG I think is The Best….

Bring Back The Open Regional and it would be a Perfect Weekend!!…. 🤣

Although you might be a sucker for a shiny penny on the ground .

I’ll go with regional playoff games. Although I think there are often more anticipated and better non league matchups that actually occur during the regular season. By the time you get to selecting the SBG games it seems it gets to a point you just don’t get great matchups. Case in point, I think the regional MD/Servite game last week will be much more competitive and exciting game than the actual SBG Open.

Any weekend where rival schools compete with one another. Those games bring a big game atmosphere for schools that might struggle to make the playoffs, and for the more established programs, will always have league championship implications. Give me Los Altos and Mountain View, Leland and Pioneer, Fremont and Homestead, or St. Francis and Bellarmine any day of the week over a playoff game between 3rd and 5th place teams (and I 100% support equity based playoffs!).

I really like the NorCal Bowls as you usually get pretty evenly matched teams that wouldn't necessarily play each otherwise. Escalon vs Marin Catholic, Liberty (Bakersfield) vs Pitt for example....

This is really a great question. I have tremendous interest in all three weeks.

I like the local interest of each sectional championship.

I like seeing how each section stacks up against the regional rivals for additional bragging rights.

As a NorCal person who lives in SoCal and having to hear the nonsensical "All of NorCal sucks except for DLS", I love seeing NorCal get theirs in the state bowl games.

I voted SBG.
