With the Bruce fading in the past and SI taking that trophy home this year ( yes I know BB is still in play, I am projecting a little)

Who will be the "Kings of Kezar"? I wonder if Colehenry will actually root for the Crusaders in his dislike of the Cats out weight him.

Rmbr has always been fairbalanced and Jordsn does come through at the end.

Sorry , but I am hanging with 1DNA. We always want the purple and gold to win at BB, so why not on the Grid Iron.

I heard some SI grads were treating at Merced with Breskfast? I am crashing....good friending trash talking is better served why I am not buying (LOL)

Pretty good post RiordanGael - luvin' the part about breakfast at Merced, but will 1DNA be dining as well. I have a feelin' breakfast with you "gentlemen" would be a good time...

For what it's worth, Riordan doesn't play any games at Kezar in 2015.

Cokehenry,

The "Kings of Kezar" is a term that was created many years ago when SI,SHC & ARHS all played at Kezar.

The same stadium that houses many of the greats.

I hope to see you at CCSF

The SHC coaching is excellent. Just look at the staff's record going way back. It's the SHC talent that's the problem. There just isn't enough of it. In the WCAL, you need at least 25 quality prep players (and several key playmakers) and another 25 solid backups. The lack of facilities has to be a factor. Not sure of SHC's entrance/financial aid requirements and how they compare to other WCAL schools, especially SI, Riordan and Serra. But it's obviously really tough for both SHC and Riordan to field strong football programs (rather than the occasional good team) on a sustained basis. Their WCAL records speak for themselves. The WCAL is an unforgiving league. For many years, SHC did not compete in WCAL football. There was a reason for that.

I have to give SHC much credit, they left the WCAL to regroup SHC and did they ever.

I just wish the group of The Class of 2007 at SHC could have seen the rewards. The could have beaten any WCAL team fielded.

My take on Riordan this year is the infusion of enshusiasm and former Riordan players as Assist. Coaches. Of course many will call my opinion bias, and they are right. But i have also seen the systemstic decline at Riordan, so I think I am qualified to see the rise too.

My thinking is it is not the facilities, although improvement is needed. It is the community of the team and the school for FB. It is an old song, but the leadership at Riotdan had turned it around, may it be the lever of detail by assist. Green. Or the professionalism of Gilleran or the vision by the Prinicple and President.

As a parent of Riordan sudents for a decade, I have heard other parent chant "turn the page" at football matches, Riordan had finally done that with a HC and as an organization. And that is why I end my post:

We Are One...We R Riordan

Sorry. This looks like a one-year deal for Riordan. Maybe not. But it sure doesn't seem promising at the frosh and JV levels. And only about a dozen kids off the 2015 varsity roster are scheduled to return in 2016. And few are playmakers. We'll see.

I can see ur concern, I do think more focus will be given to the Frosh level next year. I will have to differ about the JV level. The coach there, in my opinion is the best in player coaching and young man development in the whe league. I have personally been humbled by the insights and intutitiveness of Coach Paul B.

But it is in the WCAL favor for Riordan to be Flash of one year. Can you imagine what the landscape would be if Riordan dominates in FB & BB in City?

I would think some Adm. Director job's be at risk?

We Are One...We R Riordan

Lmfao thats pretty funny and maybe you are right hahahahaa

The brass ring is in Riordan's hands, the help of the Bells helped. Take care of the city business and the you have your work on mount VC and closing out vs. SF.

Hard work is what a Crusader does....

But not to full of themselves to give respect to Bellarnibe

As Dennis Green was stated, "They are who we thought they were..." can describe the Crusaders today. For those clad in Purple, win and take care of business, they are at the top tier like theyve been posting. Good teams put away pesky little 'Cats. Lose to an inferior City team and the rest of the critics will justify this as a team better than the past, but on the top end of mediocre. To harken the good old days as I posted on another thread, JSquare knows... "It IS what IT is!"

As my Dad taught me at an early age...
"I'm a rabbit, I'm a rabbit, I'm a rabbit till I die. I would rather be a rabbit than a CHERRY from SI!"
Go Rabbits!

I agree with Riordan Gael and others who said that the coaching staff and administration are the difference from previous seasons. Talent does help, but you also need quality coaching. I seem to remember that 2007 team that won CCS D3, didn't win a game as freshmen. But when they got to varsity with good coaching (Langridge) and a QB transfer (Bell), they became very good. On the other hand, Zac Masoli's frosh team did well, but when they got to varsity (coached by Sweeney/Lee), they could only manage only 1-2 wins a season. The next few years will be interesting.

Agree with CityFan's post ref Masoli's team and much remains to be seen in the upcoming seasons for the Crusaders...Recent case in point re good coaching: Just look back on this current senior class of players/teams to their frosh and jv teams - Bells, VC and Riordan were solid with Bells and VC at the top (talent!) Riordan competed (talent-no coaching). Serra and Mitty were ok. Move forward to this season - you have teams with talent and good coaching at the top (VC, Bells and Riordan). Add Serra and Mitty with very good coaching/conditioning programs and they, too, are at the top tier.

Jordan,

Not sure I understand your point. Are you saying that marginal talent with good coaching is a success of excellent talent with bad coaching works too.

It seems you king of waffled on that post?

J2, what I meant - look at the successful programs - what is in place? - support of admin, good player participation numbers (roster size), great coaching and offseason conditioning/training programs. This enables your program to be sustainable and to be competitive year in - year out. Add in talented players and in some years, excellent talented players and that gets you over the top. Compare last year's Crusaders - what was missing? Support of admin-check; AD support-check, good participation-check; talented players-check; coaching/program vision - missing! Bottom line: Coaching and having a solid program keeps you competitive. Add in talented players - gets you to to top! Go Crusaders! #WeR

Jordan,

That was clear...

Especially when you notice what was not checked. With that in mind, I see the continued success of the Riordan FB program.

I still acknowledge the Colehenry's OC the world and say look back at Frosh program. But as the program is successful and grows. Thus does the interest and enrollment.

Name a recent tear that a SF FB got this much recognition, especially at enrollment time.

We Are One...We R Riordan

I also think Riordan is a very polarizing school. Made more so by the posters on this board :D:D:D

AKA- RiordanGael- The biggest weirdo of them all.
I will say knowing RGael for well over a decade now and knowing what he's been through there is a definite method to his madness. I now just sit back and enjoy, as I do reading the barbs thrown at you G6 and you hurl back at them. Clearly it's entertaining to me at least LOL
