Acalanes is one win away from a perfect run through the Diablo Foothill Athletic League after beating Alhambra (3-1) on Tuesday. The game was scoreless through three innings until Daniel Kim had a two RBI triple. It was followed up by a RBI single from Gavin Shipp. Alhambra loaded the bases in the top of the fifth, but could only scratch out one run on a bases loaded walk from Josh Abraham. Josh Candau got the win for the Dons in going five innings and striking out five. Kevin McConnell got the save. For Alhambra, Cole Gifford went six innings but was dealt the loss. Acalanes ends the regular season at Miramonte on Thursday.

After Bishop O’Dowd scored a run in the bottom of the second, Berkeley put up runs in the fifth and sixth innings to post a 2-1 league win. With the game tied at one in the sixth, the Yellowjackets got production from the bottom of their lineup when Justice Paraiso-Caceres hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Antonio Triest Escobar. Leo Nierenberg gave up a run in 4.2 innings while walking four and striking out six. In a game decided by the bullpens, Reuben Drogin threw three shutout innings with four strikeouts in earning the win for the Yellowjackets. Berkeley is 10-6 in the Western Alameda County Conference while Bishop O’Dowd is 12-4 after back-to-back losses. San Leandro is atop the league at 14-2.

St. Joseph stayed undefeated in the Tri-County Athletic League with a 6-4 win over St. Mary’s-Berkeley. Augustus Moseley, Hunter Hennigh and Carson Bridges each had multiple hits for the Pilots, which also got six innings from Steven Manzo. Andre Nnebe had two hits for the Panthers and Ryan Jenkins added a RBI triple.

In the Northern Section Division IV playoffs, Durham beat Colusa (15-9) and Winters beat Mt. Shasta (12-3) to set up the championship game on Saturday. Hamilton and Esparto will meet in the Division V finals while Chester and American Christian Academy will play for the Division VI title.
