We are excited to bring back the Battle of Norcal to showcase the best of the best from each region (209,916,bay, central) in a 2 game tournament.

Last the 209 took home the crown with MVPs being Miles Byrd (SDSU) & BJ Davis.

This year will be even better than last year!

Kidd, you got your eating spots dotted? I'm sure you have ventured out. Modesto is a bigger city than most realize. La Parilla on Oakdale and Sylvan will cook some tasty.
 
I've been to Modesto many times... Holiday Classic, other tournaments, have even been there this summer for games. Will do some diner (probably the convenient, right up the road Huckleberry's) before the games, but I am a true pizza-holic... That means Gold Dust Pizza in Ripon on the way home. I put that in top 10% territory for me, and I have been to hundreds of pizza places over the years.

p.s. I don't dig Mexican food at all, so La Parilla is out...

i think fairfield is def more sac than oakland... but sort of stuck in the middle of nowhere and have dual citizenship. but let them tell it they are the bay. the bandwagon strong

Yea I remember the convo. It always comes up. I mean Vanden also plays in the SJS. Most just say that Fairfield to Sac is closer than Fairfield to Oak/SF. I just always wonder how the Fairfield people think and feel about this lol
 
they will tell you they are grew up in the mission or the 50s and 60s in the east. but moved to fairfield for cheap rent

Fairfield schools play in the Sac-Joaquin section, so it seems that's the section they should represent.

Of course, these unofficial events aren't forced to follow the rules... But they generally do.

Typical Bay Area provincialism.
When I was a Contractor I knew SF. Contractors who would not venture for jobs in the East Bay because they felt it was too "Wild West" for them. And East Bay Contractors who would not cross the bridge into SF because they felt like it was a journey to the land of icy winds and no parking. We went full Paladin "Have Truck Will Travel"and reaped the rewards/adventures.
But my favorite was when my kid played on Club Teams on the Contra Costa side of the tunnel and was rebuffed by his team mates parents to allow their kid to spend a weekend over at our Oakland home. I always told them ......no Worries that their son could sleep safely in our bath tub in the event of a drive- by shooting ......always set them straight. 🤨👹

i always tell people... oakland is pretty safe and gentrified. the dangerous parts you as a visitor wont be there, and if you are then you deserve what you get. aint no reason for you to be on E14 unless you trying to score.

In the past year I have attended a graduation party and birthday BBQ at the home of my concrete pumper who lives closer to 81st and Bancroft, parties which ran closer to midnight than noon. True I didn't swing by Star Liquors for ice or a refreshment run nor did I gas up at ARCO down the street on my way back to the 80.
Big thanks for calling the Street "E14" and not the politician & realtor inspired cotton candy coated International Blvd.

speaking of name changes... my beloved South Central LA is not called South LA for that exact reason. Sadly they will never ever ever be able to erase what South Central once was. That is forever in us even if we wasnt banging.

 
The 209 takes out the 916 85-70 in the first game, with the Modesto Christian double duo providing much of the impetus….

Bay faces Central next.

Bay overcomes a double-digit halftime defecit to pull off a 91-89 win, terrific game!

Aden Curry of Santa Cruz HS was incredible in a losing effort…. Gonna hafta try and get to a Santa Cruz game this year.

916 takes the 3rd place game, 73-71…. Another good battle.

Bay takes on 209 for the title in 7 minutes.
 
Bay managed to pull within 15, but then the 209said…. No ya don’t!!

102-74 final.
