Chris Flexen, a former standout at Newark Memorial who later signed with the New York Mets, is now in Korea and got a mention from Rob Friedman

Watched Flex at NM and as teammate of 1315.2. Always had dominant stuff (for HS) and was in a trio of high profile East Bay Ps c. 20011-12 who made it the show, including Joe Ross (BOD) and Paul Blackburn (Heritage), both first rounders. Matt Imhoff (Mission-Fmnt) 2ndR- would’ve joined them but for his tragic eye injury. When your kid faces and plays club with future top 50 picks one gets a sense of raw talent versus the really good players who are peaking from work ethic. They are truly unique in that way.
One thing about Flex was he knew he was dominant, yet his Dad showed the humility befit for those of us who saw endless training does not gift a 94+ gun reading.
Keep grinding Chris!

Joe Ross of BOD and Robert Stephenson of Alhambra HS were both 2011 grads, and were both 1st round picks. Great to see these local kids succeed.
