the cost is $499 per team and the proceeds benefit the Campolindo and Las Lomas girls basketball program.
Don’t those affluent schools have enough money already? It would be a more worthy cause for those proceeds to go to a program or team actually in need instead of giving tens of thousands to schools and programs who don’t need it. Seems kind of greedy to me

the schools population may be affluent, but it is still a public school that must work with public funds. the 10 girls on the team may not be affluent either. so they too need funds.
stop pocket watching anyway.

No they don’t they can just charge kids to play like they do in every other sport. The parents there just pay the money. They’re not hurting or wanting for anything at those schools.

So they should run a summer league, rent the gyms with their own money, pay for the refs with their own money and let schools in for free?
They already own their gyms. Tournament fees should be enough to cover referees and janitors only. If you want to make money run a snack bar because at least that’s optional for the people in attendance.

pretty sure the basketball team doesnt own it. the district owns, operates and leases all facilities. that cost money. as well as the lights. finally rich arent rich by spending money where it can be made. thats how they stay rich.

The school's basketball team is the district's team and the district owns the building also.

They should only charge what they paid for the snacks. Why should they profit off of selling a bottle water. They have their own water and they do not need money. Free league, free refs and now free water.
