"Local legend" involved in latest WNBA expansion talk

Well, "local legend" is what is says in the press release, but I'd never heard of the attorney involved in the latest promotional material. She graduated from San Leandro in 2006, and played at Chico and Irvine. The answer awaits at the end ...

The press release came from AASEG, which announced Alana Beard as a leader in the investment group, and presumably as a front office worker for the team, should it form. There was nothing else substantial about the press release, though, as no dollars were mentioned or any further progress on getting the team.

Good PR, though ...

Oh, and the local legend? Jade Smith-Williams. Was she really?

I guess legend us loosely used now-a-days. I don't remember a legend coming out of SL in a LONG time.

I don’t think she was even the best player on that team. But what do we know? We’re just a bunch of hoop fans on the internet. If you are legendary in at least one person’s mind, then maybe you are indeed a legend.
