March 2 Scoreboard: Mitty rolls, Redwood beats Casa Grande and more

Mitty (2-0) beat Leland (3-1) 17-3 in a first round game of the Mike Hazlett Tournament. Mitty scored 10 runs in the sixth inning. The Monarchs had six doubles including two from Arthur Soto (4-for-5, 5 RBI). Leland's Joey Taddie went 3-for-3 and Matt Ames added a home run. Jake Geis got the start for Mitty and went three innings in giving up five hits and three runs.

Wilcox (1-1) shutout Carlmont (2-2) 7-0 behnd a seven run, fourth inning at the Mike Hazlett Tournament. Patrick Sanchez had two RBI for Wilcox, which got five innigns of one hit ball with six strikeouts from Geremy McCollough.

Redwood (2-1) beat Casa Grande (1-1) 4-1 with a three run, seventh inning. Redwood's Lucas Roy went 2-for-3 with a double and went six innings on the mound in giving up five hits and a walk against five strikeouts. Cole Santander had two hits, a walk and a RBI for the Gauchos. Russell Freedheim started for Casa Grande and went four innings of one run ball.

Pittsburg (3-1) beat San Ramon Valley (1-2) 5-2 at the Pittsburg tournament. Pittsburg jumped out to a 3-0 through two innings. George Thompson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Kristopher Leffle Jr. went five innings in giving up four hits. San Ramon Valley was limited to three hits, including a double from Jaron Nevarez. Fellow sophomore Ruben Rivera went five innings and gave up five runs (two earned).
